Zoey's pov:
We pull up to my house that I haven't seen in what feels like forever. The whole place is littered with news reporters, cameras, police, and citizens. I see my mum, dad, all three of my older brothers and my little brother standing by the front door. God, I've missed them so much.

"You ready?" Luke looks at me. I nod.

"Yeah." I open my door and stare at my family for a moment. They're all crying and so am I. I run as fast as I can to my family and they surround me with hugs and affections.

"Oh, honey! We've missed you so much!" My mum says and I sniffle, stepping back to look at her.

"I've missed you too." I tell her.

"Zoey! Zoey! Can you tell us a little bit of what happened? We'd love to get the first look." A lady pries and holds a microphone to my face.

"I think she's been through enough. Can you all leave her alone?" Luke tells the reporter and puts his arm around me to comfort me. The lady instantly starts to pry at Luke.

"Luke, you found her when police couldn't. How does that make you feel? You're a hero!" She tells him. He ignores her.

"Luke!!" A girl around our age yells and his hand instantly lets go of my waist and steps a few feet away. She rushes up to him and kisses him and my heart aches.

"Baby, you are a hero!" She tells him then turns to one of the reporters.

"My boyfriend is a hero." She tells her. She talks to the reporter for a minute and seems to enjoy the attention she's getting as the girlfriend of the town's hero. Luke looks at me, but I instantly look away. I don't want to make eye contact because then he'll see that I'm hurting and I'm jealous. I didn't know that he has a girlfriend. I would have never let him kiss me, I wouldn't have kissed him, and we certainly wouldn't have tried to have sex.

"Zoey, you should get inside. You don't need to be around the reporters right now." A woman tells me. She looks a lot like Luke, so I assume she's his mum. She helps me inside and the place looks the same.

"Do you want something to eat or drink?" My mum sniffles.

"I'm okay. We ate before we got here." I tell her.

Luke's pov:
I say goodbye to Maya and walk into Zoey's house. Everyone is on the sofa, except Zoey and her mum who are in the kitchen. The second her mum sees me, she wraps me in a hug.

"Thank you so much for bringing our little girl home!" She sniffles. I comfort her. When she releases me, I give her a smile. She reaches up and grabs a coffee mug. Her hands are extremely shaky and the mug slips out of her hand and lands on the ground making a loud crashing sound.

"No, I'm sorry!!" Zoey collapses to the ground and covers her head with her arms as if she were preparing herself for another beating. Her mum looks frightened and I squat down to comfort Zoey.

"Hey," I put my hand on her back.

"You're okay. It's just a broken mug. You're okay. Come here." I tell her and help her to her feet. She cries into my shoulder.

"I-I'm so sorry." She whimpers as she turns to her mum.

"Oh, no, honey." Her mum holds Zoey's face in her hand and wipes Zoey's hair out of her eyes.

"It's okay." She wraps Zoey in a hug.

"Everything's okay." Mrs. Delany plants a kiss on the top of Zoey's head.

"Look who wants to meet her older sister." Mr. Delany says as he walks down the stairs holding a newborn baby. Zoey quickly turns around and walks to her dad.
