Zoey's POV:
It's Saturday and I haven't left my room since Luke came over on Monday except going to the bathroom and to shower. I'm curled under the blankets there's a knock at the front door. I just lay in my bed. My mum's home, so she'll answer the door. A few moments later, there's a knock at my bedroom door. I groan and stand up, opening my bedroom door. I see Ashton. I groan and crawl back into bed."Nice to see you too." He jokes. I don't reply.
"Get up and get ready. I'm taking you to a party." He tells me. I shake my head and pull the blankets over my head. I feel the blankets get ripped off of me and I watch as Ashton tosses them to the ground. I don't know why, but that made me cry. I'm just extremely emotional. I start crying into my hands which makes Ashton rush over to me.
"Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry." He says, then picks the blanket up and lays it back on me.
"You really should come to the party with me tonight." He tells me.
"It's doctor recommended." He jokes. Luke talked about my therapy sessions to them? I shake my head. I don't feel like going anywhere. Plus, I can't be around Luke.
"Come on, please? Luke's not going to be there." He says as if he read my mind. I shake my head. That only takes care of one of the problems. I still don't feel like getting out of bed.
"I promise, if you don't like the party and want to leave, I'll take you home. I'm trying to be a good friend here." He says and I think for a minute. I nod and he helps me to my feet.
"Awesome." He smiles.
"I'll wait for you in here." He says and I nod. I grab some clothes and then walk to the bathroom and shower. I get out and get dressed. I blow dry my hair and curl it. I coat my lashes with mascara and put on nude lip gloss. I don't want to be too noticeable. I step out of the bathroom and hear a really horrible sound coming from my room. I walk into my bedroom and see Ashton sitting at my piano. He must have gotten restless. He turns around and looks at me.
"I think I'll stick to the drums." He jokes and I smile slightly. I didn't know he played drums.
"Do you play?" He asks. I nod. He stands to his feet and motions for me to sit down. I shake my head.
"Come on, play something." He persists. I haven't played since the day I was kidnapped. I don't even think I still know how. I clear my throat and sit down. I place my fingers on the keys, close my eyes, and take a deep breath. I press the keys to the first chord of Yiruma's River Flows In You and suddenly it all came flooding back. I had forgotten how great it feels to lose myself in the music. When I finish playing the song, I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding in.
"Wow!" Ashton says and I smile.
"No, seriously. You're incredibly talented! You need to do something with this talent." He says and a small smile creeps across my face.
"Do you ever think about doing this as a profession? Going to school for it and then turning it into a career?" He asks. I shrug my shoulders and stand to my feet. I grab my shoes and put them on.
"You ready?" He asks with a smile. I nod and we leave.
...
We pull up to a house that I haven't seen before. The whole street is full of cars; the yard is littered with trash, people, and plastic red cups I'm sure is for alcohol; and I can hear the music from all the way down the street. Ashton parks the car and we both get out.
"You okay?" He asks. I fake a smile and nod.
"If it gets to be too much, just tell me and we'll leave." He tells me. We walk into the house and I follow Ashton's lead. Even before I was kidnapped I had never been to a party. It's never been my scene. I'd rather curl up in bed with a book and listen to The Fray rather than go out on a Saturday night.
