After Mackenzie excepted my apology about my rudely raised temper we decided to head off and get ready for the ceremony. We were going to go to it in my car but then Katy shouted us a ride to her house and we weren't about to deny a shortcut to an area closer than my house was, of course she had no idea where we were going but she was that kind of helper type person who was nice enough to take us anyway. As Mackenzie and I blissfully leaped out of Katy's car nodding our heads in thanks, she started to drive away waving her hands happily as she left our fields of view and we headed off to the city's main hotel conference room, where our leader,Becky-Lou Harris, was waiting for our return to the group. As we all knew it wasn't easy to upset her so we didn't have much worry about being a little late to her meetings. We stepped gracefully into our cushioned red velvet seats on the left side of a long rectangular table, white marble, polished so well you felt like you were staring into a mirror, on the left hand of each vampire was a small plate of fresh, warm biscuits of many varieties of flavours, on the right a small, half-cup of blood for each of us— this was the Reds' meeting of the choosing, hinting why there was small blood cups for each of us. We never drink the blood from good or innocent people only the ones who have betrayed both human and vampire kind. I took a nice long enjoyed sip from my cup and looked up at Becky as she started speaking to us.
"Thank you everyone for coming here today—" she started with a wide-spread grin on her face, bright white teeth showing and eyes now crescent shaped, squinting in the bright lights of the well lit up room.
"As you all know we are gathered here today to celebrate the coming of age for all you Red type vampires and how well you've settled in society along side humans, without Them realising that you were vampires. Good job." She finished as we all sat in joy of what she was about to say "you may now stand up for the ceremonial, official, even for the coming of age" everyone leaped in blissfulness as they jumped of their chairs and swiped them into the tables edge, I did the same.
"You may now form a line as the person at the front steps onto the sacred coming of age platform. She demonstrated it quite clearly, well I thought she did. I looked down the lines rim and counted how many places down I was from the front of it, 3,4,5... I was sixth from the front with Mackenzie in front of me twitching with joy staring at me eyes widened from the normal round shape they already were with the light blue tinting flashing in the LED lighting from above her she cracked a sweet smile and asked if I was really brave enough to dare to be the butterfly I had chosen, I looked at her and smirked and bit my lip with concern and rethought about my choice, she had a fair point it was a daring choice that I'd made but I had chosen it and it was the one that represented me the most. "I will." Mackenzie answered Alpha Becky as she stepped off the platform and tapped y back enthusiastically as she walked away and I stepped up onto the bronze platform encrusted with rubies, I shook in my formal leather boots as I looked up at Becky and she smiled warmly, I felt a little more safe but still afraid of the reactions in the small crowd around me I grounded my teeth and then looked up so she could start her ceremony. So I looked up and nodded that I was ready. She nodded her head back as she spoke "which butterfly is of your choice tonight? Which will help shape your future" Becky questioned as if she were a marrying me to some invisible guy that stood beside me, even though I knew that was impossible I still foolishly looked over just to check then leaned a little closer to her and quietly answered "the Blue-Hairstreak Butterfly." I said now leaning back digging my shoulders into my neck in fear of her response, her jaw dropped, then people started questioning what my response had been and Becky, as the leader, had to quiet  them down. The only way to do that was to tell them out loud what my response was, and sure enough their jaws either dropped or fell off the metaphorical hinges, I was intimidated by the long stretched silence I had erupted with my answer so I hinted quite obviously to Beck that I was ready to continue with the rest of the ceremony. Becky swallowed hard and then continued with
"are you sure? That's a very brave choice." She added looking at me from a strange angle and staring weirdly at the rest of me studying me for whatever reason
"yes!" I exclaimed impatiently as she grabbed her old book with the rest of her speech in it.
"Well, after the full moon tonight all you have to do is write the name of your, uh, butterfly on a slit of paper and put it beside your bed." She finished handing me a soft pearl white sheet of paper and waving me off with hand gestures like some sort of puppy dog, but since she was my alpha I had to go. You may be wondering why she emphasised the word butterfly in her short speech to me the reason is because of something I hadn't told you about that butterfly yet, some of the vampire elders beliefs are that this butterfly is more related to an ancient creature more than anything, but a one that had luck not to be messed with in it, a force, a strong force.
