We see a falcon leave just as we arrive back to base. I park the warthog and go inside. Moore looks at me, “How the hell Amanti thought they could keep you caged I have no clue, but that’s not my concern.” He walks over to a computer, “Johnson and I have a proposition.”
After a few clicks he turns around, “We need soldiers like you to even have a chance to fight Amanti, but we lack the resources to produce any super soldiers.” He walks closer, “Our offer, if you’ll join the blue army, we’ll do everything we can to help find EVE.”
My attention snaps, “Just like that, you’re offering me a spot in your army?” He walks back over to the computer, “No, they are.”
When he presses the button, five holograms appear. “Who are they?” One of the things I don’t know much about is the Army’s Hierarchy.
Then the holograms speak, “We are the high council. We make all decisions in all matters that concern the army. We offer this position out of both need and fear.”
The next one picks up, “As Moore said, we need soldiers like you. And we don’t need to make anymore enemies. So, if you accept, you’ll only be a Sergeant, but with your skill, you’ll advance quickly.”
They look at me, pressuring me. Moore’s eyes wander though, looking at Nick. “You won’t be going in alone, Nick will follow you in what will be called Shadow Squad, Along with other soldiers from different branches of your army.”
One hologram turns to Moore, “He speaks loosely, but yes, if Nick wishes, he can join your squad.”
Nick steps forward, “I saw how you fight, and with the enemies you made, you’ll need some help, I’m in.”
I remove my helmet, “If you can get me info on EVE, I’ll join your army, on two conditions. First, I choose who go’s on my team. Second, I get Lt.Colonel of Blue Base.”
Moore cuts in, “The hell you do!” But the council cuts him off, “Agreed. You’ll be given access to any reasources you need, we’ll talk soon 95.”
Moore glares at me, “You really had to do that, now I’ll have you judging my every choice, perfect.” I turn, “Come on Nick, and I won’t be here to judge anything.
We walk to the top of the base, Nick comes jogging behind me, “Where are we going?” I stop to look at the pelican I cam in on, “We’ll go to green base, se if we can pick up a soldier or two.”
SARA chimes in, “Green records show of a Jason, who is a very talented marksman, you may wish to investigate him. Just saying.”
Nick looks at me with a confused look, “Who the hell was that?” I point to the back of my helmet, “An AI inside my suit, she provides me with any data I can’t get myself. And SARA, I thought you were going to leave my armor once we got to blue base.”
Nick looks over the pelican while SARA keeps talking, “I would, but your suit isn’t allowing me to leave, the adapter is to new for the base computers.”
I Join Nick inside the pelican, “We’re looking at about a half hour flight, don’t get too comfy.”
During the whole flight, I keep cheeking my gun, working out any problems. I’m in the middle of re-assembling the trigger mechanism when I hear an alarm sound.
When I get to the cockpit, SARA starts talking, “Amanti ship in low orbit, already engaging Green base, we may want to stay back.”
I look out the window to see huge missiles pounding the base. Nick walks up beside me, “Holy Fuck!”
