Chapter 5

(Aaron Carlton POV)

I sat on my desk chair. I had placed my face in my hands, as Samantha had left just.

When I met Sam, I was five years old, and she was four. I met her through one of Christina's friends. Sam has liked me since I met her, and I have known for a long time. I've always found Sam as a sister, since we met when we were young. Plus, she has always been there for me like a sister would be.

One night, she had came to me and confessed her feelings to me. I had told her how I felt and tears had fallen from her eyes. I held her for that whole night and told her I was sorry, but she just kept crying.

The next morning, Christina had made a decision. She said that I will marry Samantha when I became of age. I said nothing of it because it is expected of the eldest son to do what his family has plan for him.

When Christina died, my father had said that I still had to marry Samantha. With his words, it made it absolute. I had no choice, but to marry Sam.

My father had made the date with Sam's parents. It was hard for me, because I had fallen for a young beautiful girl in high school. When my father had heard of this girl, he had beaten me. The following day I told the girl to get lost, and I never saw her again. After I lost her, I became very depressed. Sam had watched me go from cheerful Aaron to not talking at all Aaron. She had told me she was sorry for telling my father.

I had forgave her and went on with our life has fiancée.

A knock on the door had interrupted my thoughts. "Come on in," I said, still with my head and my hands.

"Aaron?" I looked up. It was Taylor.

"Taylor? Did you need me for something?"

She stepped in with Hannah, my nurse. "Ms. Nickolason? What are you doing here?"

Hannah walked over to me and sat her bag on my desk. "How are you feeling?" She put her hand on my forehead.

"I'm fine. Why are you here?" I grabbed her hand.

"I'll leave you two alone," Taylor said, leaving my office.

"What are you doing, Aaron?"

Hannah was that girl from high school. "Hannah, I've missed you."

"Mr. Carlton, please allow me to give you a check up. If not, I'll take my leave."

I let her hand go and allowed her to check up on me. It seemed that I had a slight fever. "Hannah," I said putting my hand on her cheek.

She sighed, "Mr. Carlton, you need some sleep. Come on, I'll help you to your room."

I put my hand around her shoulder, and she helped me to my bed. "Hannah," I said, as she covered me up. "I'm so sorry, Hannah."

She stared at me, "Aaron, you really hurt me."

"I know I did. I hate being me, Hannah. I miss you, and I'm so sorry. Hannah, don't leave me."

"Aaron. I have to go. I'll call you later to see if you're feeling any better."

"Hannah..." I passed out.

When I awoke, Taylor was right there. I sat up, "What happen?"

"Ms. Nickolason came to see you. Ms. Livingston told us that you weren't feeling well, so Tyler called her."

I put my hand on my forehead. "That explains things. Alright, you may go."

"Sir, will you be alright?"

"Taylor, don't worry about me."

"Yes, sir," she said, and bowed. She started to head out of my apartment, but I stopped her.

"Taylor," she turned around, "will you check up on Ms. Daniels for me."

She nodded her head and headed out. I laid my head back on my pillow, when she left.

"What have I been thinking? Did I really do what I did to Hannah?"

*Ring*

*Ring*

I reached for my phone, "Hello?"

"Mr. Carlton?"

I opened my eyes wide. It's Hannah.

"Ms. Nickolason, I heard you came by to check up on me. I appreciate it. I don't really remember much."

There was silence on the other end. "Ms. Nickolason?"

"I told you I would call you to make sure you were okay. It seems that you are alright. I'll make sure I tell Ms. Livingston you are okay."

"Thank you, Ms. Nickolason."

"You're welcome, Mr. Carlton."

"Have a nice day, Hannah."

"Goodbye, Aaron."

I hanged up the phone and placed the phone on my nightstand.

I shouldn't be talking to her. Father will find out. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep. I hope that Sara will change Father's mind of the whole marriage to Sam.
