Chapter 7

(Aaron's POV)

"Aaron, your father called and he said you wanted me to check up on you one more time before I headed back home to Virginia."

"Who's that?" Sara whispered.

"Her name's Samantha," I whispered into her ear. "She's my fiancée."

Sara looked down, and I knew what she was thinking. Why? Why does he like me when he's engaged? I know the feeling and look all too well. "Stay here, I'll be right back."

I stepped out of my room, but before I got to the door, Sara grabbed onto my sleeve. I opened my eyes in shock. "Don't go." She started to shake.

"I'll be right back. It won't take me long. Just wait here." I tell her, while caressing her cheek.

I walked out of m room and headed to the living room, where Sam sat. "What did you need?"

"Your father called and asked me to check up on you, but I see you're perfectly fine."

"Indeed I am," I say with a little bit of anger. "Now, I am tired. I wish you a safe trip back to Virginia."

Sam stared at me, "Alright, goodnight." She had got up from her seat and walked to me. Carefully, has to not hurt me, she kissed my cheek."

"Goodnight Samantha." I watched as she left my house.

"She really is your fiancée?"

I turned around to see a sad, depressed Sara. She was shaking so bad. I walked to her. "Can I explain?"

"I have to go," she said, grabbing her bag that was on the couch.

"Sara, wait please," I say, trying to make her stay. "Please, let me explain."

Sara looked me directly in the eyes, "Why did you not tell me you were engaged? Why did you make me fall for you? Why did you show me kindness? Why me?" She started to cry.

I embraced her. "Sara, I love you. Sam is an arranged marriage that my stepmother set up right before she died. My father had told me if I didn't follow her wishes, then I would be severally punished. I didn't want to tell you because I know how you would feel about it. Sara, I need you to trust me," I say placing my hand gently on her face. "I will always love you."

After about an hour of cuddling, Sara had drifted into sleep. I still had a few more papers to sign for tomorrow's event. So, I did that while she slept in my room.

I had finished an hour later. Standing up, I stretched and turned to face Sara. I walked over to my bed and bent down to stare at her beautiful face. "Sara, I love you." I kissed her forehead and laid my head on the edge of the bed and drifted off. Sara will always be with me. No matter what I have to do to keep her. No matter the cost.
