Emma's POV

I was at the sheriff's station, and since there was no new villain, it was kind of boring. So, I decided to go eat lunch at Granny's. I trust the people in this town enough to know that they wouldn't do anything. Also, August works there, and I wanted to talk to him.

When I got there, I sat in a booth. August came over, "Hi, Emma. What can I get you?"

"Grilled cheese with fries, please. And when you get a break, I would like to talk to you."

"Okay, I can take a break when I bring your food."

"Thanks."

About three minutes later, August came with my food.

"What did you want to talk about?" He asked, sitting down.

"Why will you not admit your lies?"

"Because it's kind of embarrassing." He said, looking at his lap.

"Hook and I are you're best friends. We're not going to make fun of you, we just want to help you. Yesterday, Hook came to me and asked if there was anything I could do with my magic. I said no, because you're the only one who knows who you're lying to, and what you're lying about. So, you're the only one who can save yourself. But August," I said and grabbed a hand in both of mine. He jerked his head up and looked at me. "If there was anything I could do, and I mean anything, to help, you know I would, right?"

"Yeah, I do." He said, smiling, and lightly squeezed my hand.

I smiled and gave him a light squeeze back.

"I have to get back to work, but thanks for talking to me, Emma." He said while standing up.

"Anytime you want to talk, you tell me when and where, and I'll be there. All right?"

"Okay."

"You're like my big brother, you know that, right?"

"Yeah, I do, Emma." He said, with a look that flashed for only a brief second across his face. So fast, I couldn't tell what it was. Disappointment? Sadness?

"Love ya, big bro."

"Love you, too, Emma."

I really mean what I said to him. He really is like a big brother to me. Ever since I learned the truth about who we are, I realized that he was sent to protect me. I wouldn't even know him if it weren't for Gepetto sending him through the wardrobe to look after me. That realization changed our relationship to me.

I ate my food with a slight smile on my face. When I was done, I laid a ten on the table and headed back to the station.
