This one is for you Amina Usman. Thank you for being there. Thank you so so much. I love you.
-------------------"When the whistle is blown and the flag is raised you will start." The speaker announced, causing me to return into a bundle of nerve while the crowd cheered the place down.
"On your marks, get set, go." The speaker screamed out one more time before the whistle was blown and my engine roared to life.
I increased the acceleration taking the crowd into hoots of appreciation. I rolled down the windows and zoomed fast across the racers never taking my leg off the accelerator. The wind whipped my face making me breathless as the rush of adrenaline kicked in. All I could see was the bend down the road then the three risky curves and then the finish line. I laughed. This felt like home. And I liked it.
The familiar excitement kicked in creating fluttery feeling in my tummy. My toes curled as a happy smile lit up my face. I could feel my worries fading away. I could feel it.
Racing made me feel free. From the confinement of my problems, of life itself. It felt good to leave life behind and race.
My heart raced as I went to the first curve, two racers had overtaken me and I slowed my acceleration for the bumps ahead. I saw a car in the side with a punctured tyre.
One more car to race down. The Adrenaline was coursing through my veins making my heart beat twice as fast.
Accelerating till I reached the other car, She shot the middle finger at me before accelerating to the third and final curve.
Your on, bitch.
I found myself laughing out loud as I zoomed past the second curve and tailed her car and accelerated to her side pretending to push her off. She decreased her acceleration a little bit and I took that as my moment and sped out of there, effectively completing my third curve and shot her the middle finger chuckling to myself as I heard her scream.
No bitch plays me.
I sped to the finish line and got out hearing the cheers of the crown.
The fire in me was still burning, I could hear my heart beat in my ears. My breathing was ragged but the smile on my face was as big as Russia. I tried to calm my heart but my excited happiness just made it beat faster.
I got out and waved to the crowds, smiling at my father as he shot a a thumbs up.
"Ella.Ella.Ella." The crowd chanted as I smiled the girl in the finishing line holding a flag.
"You were amazing out there, Ella. If you don't mind can I get your autograph? Its for my brothers birthday, He's a big fan of you." She said with puppy dog eyes.
"Aw. Sure." I said and she handed me a plain white shirt and a black sharpie.
"His name's Dane." She smiled at me.
I wrote a happy birthday Dane, and scribbled my sign onto the left side of the shirt of the short making it look fashionable. proud of my handiwork, I handed it back to her and she thanked me and spoke in the walkie talkie walking away after giving me her name and waving goodbye.
----------------------------------------------------------
"You look great by the way." Dylan whispered into my ear from behind, hugging me.
I turned back and give him a big smile.
"Thanks." I said shyly.
"Your beautiful. So were still on for tomorrow night right?" He asked.
" 'Course we are." I said.
"Okay, I got to go. I have plans with mum." He said and scratched the back of his neck flashing me a toothy smile.
"Bye then." I said.
He held my hand and kissed my cheek before saying a goodbye leaving me all hot and bothered.
I know its not even a proper kiss, but he kissed me.
Dylan freaking Bradshaw kissed me.
The zoo in my stomach was creating a havoc and my heart was being way too fast. My breathing was ragged as I felt myself smile at his retreating silhouette.
Dylan, What are you doing to me?
