Warning: Panic Attacks
Luke's anxiety wasn't a secret. The fans were aware of it and for the most part never mobbed him, but, sometimes the fans forget and shoved pictures and phones into his face, clawing at his jacket for him to look in their direction. He understood and was glad they had fans, but when he was having a day full of nerves and feeling really anxious he needed a break which sometimes fans wouldn't give him.
Today was one of those days.
Luke and Calum walked hand in hand out of the exit door on the plane. They weren't dating (officially) but Luke was having a rough day and Calum was trying to offer some sort of comfort. It was working -Luke forgot about the worries creeping around in his mind and was holding a regular conversation with the rest of the boys. His mood shifted from anxious to okay, so the day wasn't going to be one of Luke's 'bad' days where he had a panic attack. Luke promised Ashton.
But he wasn't sure if he could keep that promise when he saw the size of the crowd. It was bigger than normal -probably 300+ people. Immediately Luke freaked out and practically threw himself at Calum, his hands searching Calum's arm as if to make sure he was there. Luke didn't realize it but his fingernails were digging into Calum's flesh, making the older boy wince.
This wasn't supposed to happen. How had the fans figured it out? They kept it secretive and management promised that nobody knew they were landing today or at what airport.
"I'll call Dave," Michael mumbled, already typing in the security guards number. He was waiting outside in the car, not expecting this either.
"We can't just wait here," Ash pointed out, already noticing the group getting bigger. "The media would make us out to be some jerks."
Calum nodded with a sigh and turned to the frantic blonde boy, who's eyes were already filled with tears. Normally he would have time prepare himself for this, but once again this was unexpected.
"Luke, it's fine. You're okay, yeah?" Calum wasn't sure Luke had heard him because the boy's blue eyes just frantically moved from person to person in the crowd.
"Luke, dude you'll be fine! You'll just go out there, sign some stu-" Michael was cut off at by a scowling Calum.
"He's not going out there!" That caught Luke's attention. "He's going to stay here, we'll go through, and then Dave will come and get him, yeah? The fans are staying back-" He stole a nervous glance at the crowd, "Luke you'll be fine here, right?" He nodded with a deep breath and a slight smile.
"Y-yeah."
Calum kissed his cheek and then ushered the boys to go interact with the fans. Luke nervously watched them sign things and take pictures with big smiles and loud laughs. The noise was a lot, even more for Luke. But he was fine, he thought as he lost sight of the boys in the crowd. Dave will come and get him and take him through the back or something, It's going to be-
"LUKE!" He whipped his head around to see a teenage girl and guy run up to him, opposite side to the huge crowd, with shit eating grins on their faces. But it was still okay, there was only two people. The others were about 30 feet away and they weren't coming over here.
Just as Luke made a move to take a selfie with them, a large portion of the group ran towards Luke assuming he was taking pictures today. Luke's breathing pretty much stopped and he tried to turn around and find the back door or somewhere he could go but hands grabbed him back and shoved things in his face.
Feeling quite claustrophobic, Luke cracked a forced grin and tried to see the other boys but it looked like they were already on the bus.
Luke was alone. Well, alone with 300 fans that would kill to get a glimpse at him.
