"(Y/N) be careful....""I am Connor"
Connor was such a worry sort wasn't he? He didn't seem to understand that even if I was blind that I could at least walk without tripping over my feet. Sure it was cute at times but right now he was more annoying then cute at the moment. I simply asked him to help with buying ingredients for dinner tonight and he seemed to think I had asked if I could go to war with him.
His arm was safely guiding my own through the Boston market place, the soft chatter around me told me that it must be busy. I held a basket in my free hand that was already filled with ingredients we picked earlier. Connor was in charge of the money since I clearly couldn't deal with the vendors.
"Now we just need onions and some carrots for the stew. You caught some deer this morning so we can use that too." I told him but didn't really know if he was listening. In fact I didn't know what his expression was at all so I shouldn't be wondering what it looked like. "Sounds amazing (Y/N)" he said, his free hand resting over the hand I had lazily entwined with his arm. I smiled at the contact, loving the feel of his warmth on my own hand.
Some would ask me if being blind is truly a curse. I would answer yes and explain how I could never see the colors they see. How I can't see their faces and see their eyes. How I can't see a sun set or a sun rise every day. I would tell them all how I can't stand not being able to see my love and see the love show in his eyes.
But that didn't really matter.
"You said onions correct?" Connor said, his soft and gentle voice carrying to my own ears. "Yes! But don't get any small ones, this stew has to fill you up for all your dangerous adventures remember?" I responded, and smiled when we stopped. The smell of onions reached my nose and I couldn't help but smile even wider. "How's this?" He asked, lifting up my hand to place an oniont in my palm. I squeezed a few times to check if it was too soft and smiled when it seemed to be okay for what I needed. "This will do. Get more like it but check to see if their too soft. No one likes mushy onions" I stated with my smile still plastered on my face. I could hear him shifting the veggies around and place some in my basket.
"Is it getting too heavy for you?" He asked probably for the hundredth time today. "No Connor! I'm fine! I will tell you when it's too heavy" I said with a sigh. Of course I wouldn't tell him. I want to still feel like I could do something then just sit and speak and look pretty. Well Connor says I have a pretty face but I don't really believe him. Again can't see. I would point it our but sometimes my tongue is sharper then a set of blades.
I bet you anything he had a disapproving look on his face but clearly I couldn't tell. Achilles would explain and describe how Connor's face looks when disappointed or when he's pouting. Some points were exaggerated clearly but I think I had a good picture of how Connor looked.
"Come on Connor" I urged and pulled on his arm slightly, smiling when I heard him sigh but none the less he followed.
As we both walked through the market I couldn't help but think about how being blind wasn't really all that bad as well. That it was actually pretty good for me.
Like falling in love
I don't love Connor because of his body or his eyes or his face. Not by how tall or short he is ( even thought he is indeed very tall ) or by how fit he was. I love him for him.
For how faithful he was and determined. For how caring he was for others after everything he had gone through. For who he is. And he's in love with me like he has told me countless times before hand. He's described things to me like a sun set or a waterfall. A bear catching trout for her cubs and a wolf prowling in the grass.
And man I loved him so much simply for that.
"(Y/N)?" Connor's voice hit my ears and shocked me out of my trance. "Yes?" I asked. "Are you alright? I was talking to you about what you would like to do tomorrow before I leave but it seems you were...distracted?" He said, and I smiled before nodding my head in agreement. "Yes. I was just thinking about the sun sets again" I said. Connors arm brought my closer to him, his hand engulfing my other hand once more. "Can you explain them to me again?" I asked.
"Of course (Y/N)..."
Many would say I must have taken forever to say I love you and mean it.
That it must have taken forever to actually fall for him thinking that me being blind was a set back.
Well they were wrong.
I fell in love a different way
And I wouldn't change that detail for anything else.
Authors Note
Hey guys! Hope you enjoy this! I know someone requested it and I'm sure they know who they are. I'll be doing requests by title so if you see the request you requested then yay!
So clearly I'm going to be doing the more clean and fluffy requests first and smutty and lemon ones on Saturdays. Just cause it gives me time to think.
Colonial huntress chapters are kind of on a pop up time line right now. They'll come when they get there.
And I'm sorry if these stories are late or don't come on the days I've said. Schools almost over and it's a struggle to the finish line where graduation is.
Anyway hope you enjoy! Share with friends! Follow for quicker updates!
Thanks for reading :)
