a small giggle escaped sungeun's lips as she clicked her phone shut, earning a quick glance from her friend taehyung. he peered over her shoulder to look at her phone screen. to his disappointment, her phone was shut off.
"what was it that made you smile, huh?" taehyung nudged sungeun's side, earning a slap in the wrist from the girl. "were you looking at pictures of kageyama again?"
sungeun shook her head, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, and turned her back to the rest of the kids on the bus to face her best friend. the sly smile on sungeun's face was enough to make taehyung curious and prompted him in asking her what she was previously gushing over.
"just some guy i started talking to," sungeun shrugged nonchalantly, despite the smile that spread across her lips.
"just some guy?" taehyung mimicked, "since when?"
"i don't know, three nights ago?" sungeun brushed him off, turning in her seat to face forward again. "i'm pretty sure he's annoyed by me right now anyways."
just then, the bus halted to a stop, indicating their arrival at their high school. taehyung followed sungeun off the bus and towards the front entrance. the january weather was chilling, and just as sungeun was about to complain about a biting breeze that had just whipped pass them, taehyung asked one more question about sungeun's new friend.
"i'm still curious." taehyung said as he purposefully bumped into sungeun as they continued to walk towards the school. "who is this new friend of yours and would i know him?"
"his name is jungkook," said sungeun, shoving her hands deeper into her uniform pocket. "and before you tell me that his name sounds familiar, he lives in busan. he's eighteen, he's a bit of an asshole, but apparently he likes haikyuu like i do" she continued to talk, oblivious to the fact that taehyung wasn't interested in the extra facts she had just mentioned.
"so this is one of your internet friends again?"
the two had just entered the building, stopping at sungeun's locker first. "yeah," the girl quickly replied as she placed her backpack into her locker. "i can get my books after home room," she said, taking taehyung's hand, leading him in the direction of his locker.
when they had reached taehyung's locker, the boy stopped and looked down at his hand still in sungeun's grasp. "sorry!" sungeun quickly replied when she realized she was still holding onto him. she felt her cheeks flush as she abruptly let go of her best friend's hand. "i'm going to my home room now." she announced as taehyung unpacked his backpack.
"wait!" taehyung exclaimed before sungeun had walked away. he reached into his backpack and pulled out two cartons of milk: one chocolate and the other banana flavored. "i got your favorite," he grinned, handing her the yellow box of banana milk.
sungeun thanked him, excitedly opening the carton. "i'll enjoy this during morning announcements." she waved him off. "don't get into too much trouble without me."
