At what was suspected to be a robbery gone bad, Police officers and crime investigators scoured the apartment in search of any evidence the culprit may have left behind. The yellow tape marked the perimeter to avoid any unexpected neighbors from inviting themselves in. Before anything got handled photographers were taking pictures of the once lifeless apartment now alive with colors. Depicting all the turmoil they thought the robbery had left in its wake. The broken glass resembled puzzle of the crime that needed piecing together. The rich color of the blood clashed with the lightly colored place mats.

Stepping carefully around the apartment, Terley tried to figure out what had really happened surely a robber wouldn't go as far as beating a woman, but looking back at all the crime scenes he had been to he always doubted his thoughts as to how far they would go. There's nothing like the smell of money to get a robber's heart beating.

Tugging at his collar he heard Jeffrey blurt out " we pay you to tell us the facts as you see them not trying to play monk detective, now what do we have here"

"Do you know what a consultant versus a detective is, you know what forget it, as anyone can see it's a robbery gone wrong."

"Stop playing a smart ass, what else"

"She came home early unexpected and noticed something was off. My best guess is she went to check it out and the robbery caught her by surprise, giving her a good beating. She maybe even tried to put up a fight. The husband came home, don't know why as yet, went in, tried to defend his wife and some where in all that the robber got away. Then we showed up

"Did we get a statement from the husband"

"He's with his wife at the hospital I thought they should have some more time"

"No time, necessary the sooner we got the robber off the street the sooner we can save lives, have forensics dust for finger prints, maybe he was stupid enough to leave some or any kind DNA to lead us in the right direction.

Back at the hospital

Hours later Sasha awoke, images slowly came into focus as she saw the resident nurse pulling the curtain to let the warmth of the sun in the room. Asleep in the chair next to the bed, she saw Kenny. Sasha heard the words he had said before trashing their apartment. " we were robbed stick to the story"

Her mind began to drift as thoughts raced through her head. Maybe she should take the chance and tell the cops everything and get out of this abusive relationship and some excuse of a marriage. But then again 'you Can't run away from love, or from Kenny.'

Before she could get up out of the bed and confine herself somewhere for a while. Kenny awoke with a look on his face that was occasionally recognizably to her.

"I thought i lost you last night but you pulled through."

"You push me down almost killing me"

"I didn't push you, you slipped and I didn't know you would fall on the table"

"is that a part of your story and on top of that your telling me to lie to the cops" Sasha cried with her voice cracking.

"I'm sorry baby, i didn't meant it your hands slipped" Kenny began sobbing pleading that he was sorry.

Sasha drew away from him and curled up like a ball in the bed, not wanting to say anything. The silence that engulfed the room came to a halted when the doctor walked in.

"Hi I'm Doctor Henry" neither of them replied to his introduction so he continued

"As for hospital matters you're luck your husband call the cops when he did, you have a few broken ribs, the cuts on your face and arms are stitched up. As for your back the glass didn't go to far to damage your spine so you should be fine.
