Between Regions

Part 8

"Ready."

     "Go, Surskit!" Viola tossed her first Pokeball high into the air, and a small blue Pokemon emerged. "Alright, go Dusty! Use Tickle!" Dusty burst out of his Pokeball and brushed his tail against Surskit until she was doubling over in laughter.

"Alright! Use Water Sport!" Surskit stopped laughing and covered the ground in puddles as water drizzled from the sky.

"No problem! Use Pound!" Dusty slammed into Surskit, making a very small dent in the wood.

"How did Pound even do that-wait! I see! Your Pokemon has Technician! It gives 50 percent more power to moves that have 60 power or lower...this isn't as easy as I thought. Well, Surskit, use Bubble!" A jet of bubbles hit Dusty square in the stomach.

"Shake it off and use Baby-Doll Eyes!" Dusty pulled his best puppy-dog eyes, which made even Viola feel a little bit of pity towards it.

"Try Bubble again!" Another stream of bubbles sent Dusty against the wall.

"Now, use Quick Attack!" Before Narumi could respond, Surskit zipped across the field and slammed into Dusty, but he barely even flinched.

     "How did that do so little?" Viola asked. "You see, I used Tickle, which lowered your attack and your defense, then Baby-Doll eyes lowered your Attack even more. And since it wasn't the same type of move as Surskit, it didn't do as much. Now, Pound!" Dusty pounced and almost knocked out Surskit.

"You leave me no choice." Viola spritzed Surskit with a Potion.

"That's OK! Use Pound!" The Potion didn't heal Surskit all the way, so it would only take two Pounds to kill it.

"Bubble! Give it all you've got!" Surskit mustered up all of the energy it could use and blasted Dusty with Bubble once more, but everyone knew it was over.

"Pound!" With one final blow, Surskit was down.

     "Great job, Surskit! You should have a rest." Viola returned Surskit and picked up her last Pokeball. "Dusty, return! You were almost knocked out back there." Narumi picked up her second Pokeball and nodded towards Viola.

"Go, Vivillion!"
"Go, Firefox!"

     "I knew this would happen..." Viola sighed. "Oh well. Start with Infestation!"

A greenish-blue aura surrounded Firefox, making her shiver and jolt. It then disappeared as soon as it came, doing a little bit of damage.

"Use Ember!" Firefox spit the red-hot ember towards Vivillion, taking away a third of its health.

"Arrgh! Use Tackle!" Vivillion slammed into Firefox, and then the strange aura appeared and made Firefox tremble again. All of the damage together only took a little more than a quarter of her health, though.

"Ember again!" The small fireball launched towards Vivillion and hit her square in the face, thus taking away more health. At this point, Vivillion was down to her last bits of health. The green aura stole some health.

"Fine!" Viola whipped out a Potion and spritzed Vivillion with it, but it only brought her health to about 2/3 of the way full, so two hits would knock it out anyway.

"Ember!" Firefox blasted Vivillion with the burning hot ember. The aura was back, zapping away Firefox's energy.

"T-try Stun Spore!" In a desperate attempt to turn things around, Viola tried to paralyze Firefox, but even she knew it was over.

The little particles landed on Firefox's tail, but they didn't achieve total paralysis, and Firefox was abke to shoot the winning Ember before she fainted herself from the aura.
