Cupcakes

Today as I rolled out of bed, I started laughing. I was thinking about how lucky I was to have the boys and everything they did for me. I really was lucky. For today, Gabe had laid out a blue dress with a flower pattern on it. It was simple and cute. I quickly showered and dressed. There was a knock on my bedroom door.

"Come in," I say softly, loud enough that whoever it is can hear me.

The door swung open to reveal North, dressed in black as usual. I stand up and greet him with a hug.

"Hi North."

"Hi Sang Baby. Gabe told me to do your hair today."

I raise my eyebrows and let out a giggle. Today, North would do my hair. North. Now doesn't that sound silly? He told me to sit down on the bed and I quickly did as I was told. He pulled my hair back, all except for one lock, and clipped it. So that's why Gabe couldn't do it. Bless his heart. He loves having my hair down, and seeing it down even more. I give North one more hug and he leaves.

I walk down to the kitchen after I hear the front door shut. When I arrive, I see Luke. He had on a blue polo and khaki shorts. His hair was clipped back like mine. I run to him and he picks me up with ease, twirling me around.

"Hi Luke."

"Hello cupcake," He says, a grin on his face. "Guess what we're going to do."

My smile widens. "What?"

"We're going to make cupcakes!" He shouts, then lowers his voice and leans in closely. "And eat them....for breakfast."

I gasp and stumble backwards a little for effect.

"Breakfast!" I say, faking outrage. He nods furiously and locks his eyes onto mine,  smile disappearing. I blank my face as well.

"North Taylor cannot stop us, Mr. Owen Blackbourne cannot stop us, no one can stop us now!" He exclaims, quietly but growing louder.

We hold straight faces for only a moment more before we both double over laughing.

"Okay, okay," Luke says between laughs as he tries to catch his breath. "We need to make them if we're going to eat them."

I agree, still giggling a little.

"Um, Luke? I don't have what we need..."

He grins. "I know. We're going to go shopping, duh."

I roll my eyes as he drags me out to a car parked in the driveway. It is a black jeep.

"This is North's," I say, a little surprised.

Luke doesn't say anything, just starts to drive. The ride is smooth and quiet, but the silence is comfortable. We end up at Wal-Mart. Luke grabs my hand and pulls me inside, all the way to the "groceries" section. I frown.

"We need a cart." Luke nods, slowly, as if he forgot.

"I'll go get one. Don't do anything that's trouble, 'kay? If there's a guy, go to the front of the door or call me or something."

I give him two thumbs up and he heads off. I wander around aimlessly, checking the time on my phone a lot and then somehow wondering into the clothing section. Oops. I smile as I sift through dresses and t shirts. Nothing here is quite like the stuff I usually buy from the mall. The mall. I shudder, forcing the thoughts back. Today is a good day.

"Sang!" Luke says, scaring me out of my skin. "What are you doing over here?"

I roll my eyes. "Looking. Duh," I say, mimicking him.

He giggles, grabbing me by the arm and leading me to the checkout. "Come on, we gotta go. Also since it's almost lunch time, I got a frozen pizza."

I grin. Mmmmmm frozen pizza.

When we get back home, Luke puts the pizza in the oven and we start on making the cupcakes. I play some music while we work and occasionally we both stop to dance.

The oven chimes so we take the pizza out and put the cupcakes in. I grab some plates out of the pantry for our pizza and we dance some more.

"Luke! Catch me!" I say, twirling to him. He holds me and rocks us back and forth a little bit. We have huge ridiculous smiles on our faces.

"Hey Sang?"

"Yes Luke?"

"You're amazing. And sweet. And beautiful, and silly, and perfect, and just amazing."

I blushed, a little embarassed. Where did this come from?

"I mean it," he said. "I have no idea what is gonna happen with you. But you've changed us. Our family feels more like a family now."

"Luke...I don't know what to say."

He laughs as he hugs me tighter and then we get the cupcakes out of the oven. I grab some pink icing out of the bag of stuff he bought.

He smiled as we worked together to ice all the cupcakes neatly. I gasp. "Luke we need sprinkles!"

I run to my pantry and dog through six shelves as I hear Luke laughing behind me. I frown. I could've sworn there were sprinkles in here somewhere...

I groan, turning around to face Luke. "I can't find- LUKE YOU LITTLE RASCAL YOU HAD THE SPRINKLES THE WHOLE TIME!"

He howls with laughter as I run over and jump on top of him. We almost fall over and I start to laugh too, grabbing the sprinkles and starting to decorate. I smile proudly as I admire our creations.

Luke frowns. "Hey we forgot one cupcake."

I raise an eyebrow as he giggles and boils my nose with icing, and then adds sprinkles. I laugh.

We eat our cupcakes, which taste as good as they look. We each eat like two and then put the rest in the fridge for now and go to the living room.

We cuddle for a little bit and I can feel Luke becoming tired next to me. "Sang," he mumbled.

I look up at him, curious as he smiles and licks the icing off my nose. I make a face and he hoops my nose before gently falling asleep.
