..................................

Cassie rushed to her car, for once eager to get to Joseph; to share her discovery with him. Her discovery that his father just might take them a step closer to solving the mystery that hovered so closely over them.

She was set to drive off to Joseph's place but then she remembered that she had no idea where he lived. She knew it would be awkward to go back into his parent's house to inquire, so she decided to call him. She picked up her phone, but then she noticed she had a message, she opened it, and coincidentally, it was from Joseph.

Idiot. You cut me off before I could give you my address. Cassie read, and then she rolled her eyes at the text. Below that message was his address. She knew the area he lived well, and so, she drove off.

Cassie arrived at Joseph's neighbourhood and then drove slowly, as she looked through her window to search for his house number. She drove all the way to the end of the street before she finally found his place. She parked her car in front of his house and got out.

She scanned her eyes through the neighbourhood, and to her surprise, it looked very normal. She had assumed that Joseph would live in some strange dangerous place. All the houses there were the same - simple bungalow houses, although, some had personal touches added by the people that lived there. The houses were mainly made out of fine wood, but there was part around the doors that were made out of red brick. The doors were either white or blue,  beside every white-doored house was a blue one, and the pattern continued, apart from that, everything else was identical. The houses were built with mansard roofs that had dormers. There was a big tree beside his house that had some of its leaves dropped down to the grass.

When Cassie was done surveying the area, she walked up to his doorstep. By the door was a doormat that had the words 'You're not welcome,' written on it. She rolled her eyes and shook her head. She brought her hand up to the white door, but before she could knock, the door was pulled open by Joseph.

"Are you done admiring my neighbourhood?" he asked. His hair was damp, he had on black jeans and a grey shirt.

"You were watching me?" She furrowed her brows.

"Of course, I was, it was entertaining," he laughed.

"Whatever," she pushed him aside and walked into his house. Once again, her eyes danced around the room. It was quite simple; a black couch, a small flat-screen television which rested on the cream wall. There was a reading table and chair pushed against the wall, a window at the right that hid behind a black curtain and that was basically it for the living room. There was a partition that led to the kitchen, but that part of the house was not visible from where she stood. Right in front of the door was a coat rack and then further into the house were three shut doors. Two opposite each other, and one at the end.

Cassie clasped her hands together and casually walked further into the house and sat on his couch. "So...where are your wife and kids," she grinned.

"What are you talking about?" Joseph shut the door with the sole of his right foot and also walked further into the living room.

"This neighbourhood looks so family friendly, I thought I'd be greeted by your triplets when I walk in," she laughed and had a smug smile, as she watched Joseph's deadpan expression.

He ignored her and changed the subject, but she still gave an accomplished smile knowing that she had slightly annoyed him. "Just so you know, I put that you're not welcome mat outside specifically for you."
