One week later, I was getting closer and closer to midterms. I had a paper due in two weeks and I wasn't getting much done. It was a Friday afternoon and I had decided to stay in my apartment and work on my paper.

A few hours into my work, I received a call from my best friend Chaunette. "Hey Chaun," I answered.

"Hey girl. Want to do something tonight? Andrew's out of town again on a road trip." Her boyfriend, Andrew Shaw, was some big hockey player. I never really followed sports much. I only knew a lot about football since my dad would always be watching the games.

"I can't, I'm working on my research paper," I said. I didn't really feel like going out tonight anyways.

I could almost hear her pout from across the phone. "Come on, Claire! All you've been doing for the past week is studying," she complained. "We can just go to dinner if you want and then hang at my place?"

I took another look at my half-finished essay before answering. "Alright, I guess it wouldn't hurt. Where are we going?"

"Not anywhere fancy so just wear something casual!" She exclaimed. She was definitely the more outgoing one of our friendship. "I'll pick you up in an hour."

"See you then," I replied and hung up the phone.

I walked through my one bedroom apartment to my room, where I rifled through my closet to find something decent to wear. Knowing Chaunette, we would probably be going for pizza and beers. I grabbed a pair of jeans with a sweater and slipped them on.

I had just finished getting ready when Chaun texted me that she was outside. I practically ran from the front door of the building to her car. It was still chilly, even with the sun out today.

As I predicted, we ended up going to a sports bar. The hockey game was being broadcasted on one of the TVs near the bar, and Chaunette was deeply interested in it.

"You've been to a game before, haven't you?" She asked me as our food came.

I nodded. "You took me to a few last year, remember? One of them was really important... Was it the playoffs?"

She nodded quickly. "I remember now. We went to see the Western Conference Finals."

"And I still don't know anything about hockey," I stated, causing both of us to laugh.

"Well then you'll have to come to some more this year."

The rest of the night we spent hanging out at her apartment, watching movies and talking about the team. She also helped me look for jobs. I used to work at a restaurant not far away but it went out of business. Luckily, my parents offered to help me out financially until I could find another job.

I headed home that night pretty tired. I knew that tomorrow I would have to work on my essay a lot. I went to sleep feeling a bit stressed and overwhelmed with school work.

hey guys

so the blackhawks are out of the playoffs...

of course im upset but tbh I wasn't really expecting them to win the cup this year anyways. I mean they just won it last year and even though they're an amazing team and organization, it's pretty difficult to be Stanley cup champions two times in a row.

plus, i knew that this series would be tough. I'm a little pissed that they're out in the first round but the Blues played great... in the first half of the series. we had a lot of turnovers that caused those goals, and a few of them shouldn't have even happened.

but there's nothing we can do now except hope that the stars sweep the blues and come back as the better team next year

and if this was Shawzy's last game as a blackhawk then he played great. he scored and i love him so much and if he's traded i will literally cry my eyes out

on that note, here's another update! not really that good but im still kinda introducing everything.

also let me know if you guys like the shorter chapters or the longer ones... the shorter ones won't take as long to update but they're still short so idk
