I found myself worrying about Christian. Some time in the afternoon Travis wanted to go snowboarding and all of us were going to go (I learned on my first day. The boys didn’t quit on me). So while we were getting ready it dawned on me that ever since Christian got back I’m always around when he’s with Travis. They haven’t spent anytime together with just them two. So I told them to go ahead without me. I told them I was tired and the disappointment on their faces almost made me cave. It was the disappointment on Christian’s face that got me.

So now, after I woke up from a short nap, the image popped in my head and him questioning me about why I didn’t want to go with them. Christian is so…different. I worry that if or when he falls for someone she won’t accept him when he starts opening up. It takes a while for him to trust and let his guard down with people. I worry so much that he’s going to get hurt.

I shook my head to get rid of the thoughts as my phone vibrated on the bed next to me. The text was from Travis. It read: Babe, come join us in about half an hour for lunch downstairs at the diner.

My response read: See you in thirty.

Travis sent me a wink as his response. What a flirt. I took a nice warm shower, got dressed, and then I headed out, grabbing Travis’ white letterman jacket on my way. When he saw me he smiled and grabbed his jacket, aggressively tugging me towards him. I bumped into his firm chest, not even having time to react before his lips were bruising mine.

“You look hot,” he said. I chuckled and sat down opposite him. I noticed Christian wasn’t there. Travis told he went to the bathroom before I even opened my mouth. “He thinks you might be getting annoyed with him or mad at him.”

“What? When did he say that? Why would he think that?” My palms started sweating as my heart accelerated. Just then waitress came and asked for our orders. That’s when I noticed the menus in front of us.

“For now, he’ll have sprite without ice. My brother will have—do you have fountain drinks?” The waitress, Demi, nodded. “My brother will have fruit punch Tropicana, and I’ll have pineapple juice if you have it, sweetened ice tea if you don’t.” The waitress left with a pleasant nod of her head a pleasant smile to go with it. Travis then turned his attention back to me. “He doesn’t have to say anything.” Of course.

The odds are in my favor today. Christian and our drinks came at the same time. I turned my attention to him immediately and I vaguely heard Travis ordering for us. He knows what I like and what I don’t like. There’s no doubt it’s the same for Christian. They have a lot in common.

“Why do you think I didn’t come with you guys today?” I picked up my sprite and Christian followed suit with his Tropicana.

“I honestly don’t know. But I feel like I did something to make you want to step back.” He reached for my glass and I handed it to him, knowing he was going to pour some into his.

“You didn’t do anything. And I didn’t want to step back. I wanted you guys to spend some time together…alone. We’re good.”

“Thank you,” he said, handing me my drink back. He seemed distracted as he did. He soon focused his attention back to me. “Are you sure?”
