Chapter 4: The Diner

Riley got up the next morning and got ready for work. Maddie slept the entire time she was getting dressed. Riley left a note on the fridge for her when she left, then drove straight to work. She had to wear a dumb dress to work. It was a minty green and very well fitting on her. She sighed as she walked in. She didn't know anyone here, but she hoped she could make friends with her fellow employees. She had to talk to someone named Nicole, who was supposed to train her. When she walked in she could hear Bohemian Rhapsody playing softly from the speakers, and three other girls behind the counter. One had long dark blond hair pulled up into a high pony-tail, another wore her dark black hair in a pixie cut, while the third had her bangs pulled away from her face, while the rest of her dark brown hair hung down. She smiled and introduced herself. The brown haired girl and blonde girl gave each other confused looks, while the one with red hair stepped up ,"I'm Brie. Nice to meet you." The brown haired girl stepped forward. "I'm Dina... and don't I know you?" Riley knew Dina, and the blonde haired girl who's name was Reaghan, from a fandom site. They were all fangirls, and close friends. Riley was extremely glad to be working with her friends. They went through the day talking to each other between serving customers. It was nearing 11pm, closing time, when the door opened. They were all behind the counter talking, and Dina nudged Riley when the person walked in. She turned to see Mark  walking to a table, his hair wet with rain. He had on dark jeans and boots, with a green jacket pulled over a black t-shirt. Riley grabbed her note pad and pushed her way forward. "Out my way heffas." she said. She could hear Dina and Reaghan trying not to laugh while she walked over to where Mark sat alone. "Hello, what can I get for you?" she asked sweetly. He looked up, and smiled. He gave her the order then while she was writing it down asked ,"So,ah, when do you get off?" She smiled, "A few minutes, and its closing time." he nodded, and she walked off, though she could feel his eyes on her back. She beamed when she went into the kitchen to give Brie the order. She nodded with the beat of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles as she waited for the order to get done. " He was so checking you out when you walked back up here" Dina said quietly while Reaghan snickered. Riley stuck out her tongue at them, making the pair laugh as she took him his order. "Here ya go." she said as she placed the plate in front of him. He smiled, but when she tried to walk back to the kitchen, he grabbed her wrist to stop her. She spun around to face him confused," Erm, I was, ah.." he muttered out. She waited patiently for him to continue. He breathed in deeply before saying ,"I was hoping for your number so we could maybe hang out later." She smiled, pulled out her pen, and wrote her number down on his hand. She straightened up, smiled at him, then walked back to the kitchen, a spring in her steps.
