I pulled the paper out of the wall slowly, so it doesn't get damaged. I read through it, and it was a letter to someone. It didn't say who it was for, or who it was from. I think that only these two people knew about this spot until I found it. What if it was the same people who kidnapped Matilda? They were definitely shadow knights, since Levin was their target at the time, and probably still is. So I'm going to guess its them again, or at least this time, because there was a Nether portal in our mine. That was where the light had come from. That was what caused the curse. Here is was the letter said:
They just activated the curse. Everyone should be gone, except for us and the girl. She is special, and we need to find her. Or Leader has told us of her. Meet me in the eastern savannah, near the mountain. I'll already be there. You have three days to get here. If you don't come, I'll have to do your job for you, and our Leader will find you. Good luck.
~October sixth~What girl were they talking about? Was it me or Lucinda? How are all of us alive, then? Lucinda, Laurence, that strange man, me? I didn't know much at the moment. I folded up the paper to match it creases that were already there, put it in my bag, and looked around the town for Lucinda and Laurence. I found Lucinda in the library, looking at a book on Lady Irene. I tapped her on the shoulder, and said: "Hey, I found something. I want to go get Laurence, first, though." She looked up from her book. "Where'd you find it?" she asked me. "It was in the same place I found the letter that helped me find Levin's mother, Matilda," I told her. She nodded. "You think it's the same people?" she asked another question about it as we left the library. "Yes, they're both the shadow knights." I said. Laurence was actually right there, walking down the path. "Any luck?" he asked. I smiled and said yes. He looked surprised. "Really? Nice." We walked down the path some more to the town square. I remember that the last time I was here it was really crowded, and now it was empty and deserted. We sat down on a bench nearby, and I took out the note. I held it in the middle for them to read. "Do you think that either you or Lucinda is the girl that they're talking about...?" Laurence asked. "It very well could be," I said. "So, it's over three days since then. They probably haven't found the note, or else it wouldn't have been there. The person waiting is most likely gone, too. We're going, right?" Lucinda asked. I thought about it for a moment, and I nodded, "Yes. We are. This is probably the source that we've been looking for," I told her. She nodded. We got up, and made our way out of the town. I wonder what will happen to that man we met when we were about to enter Scaleswind. Was he serious when he said that he's going to be following us? I doubt it... "How far away is this place we're going to?" Laurence asked. "It's over seas, I would think..." I said. Just then I realized that Lucinda had stopped walking. She was standing in one place looking at the paper. Only she wasn't looking at he front with the note on it- she was looking at the back side. "Lucinda, is there something on the back...?" I asked. She stayed silent, concentrating. "There is some marks on this paper... I think that there is a map. It's not visible unless it's put under water. Come look," she instructed. I walked over with Laurence to see. When I reached into the crack, I remembered the cold, wet stone. I looked at the paper, and saw that the corners were a bit wet. But on those corners, I saw a few black lines, curving around. I had one doubt, though: "If the paper gets wet, it'll be ruined though." I pointed out. "Normally, that would be true," Lucinda began. "But this is a special case. This paper is water resistant, by a spell. It still can get wet, but the paper does not get ruined or fall apart." she informed us. Conveniently, we were right next to a small pond. It was covered in ice though, so we had to break through. It wasn't thick, so with one hit, we had a water source. Lucinda carried the paper over, got on her knees, and dipped the paper in a bit to see if her theory was actually correct. We looked at the back of the paper to find more curvy lines. Seeing this, she put the paper in the water all the way, getting her hand wet in the process. She winced- the water must be really cold since we were in a tundra right now. She pulled the paper out, shook it out a bit, and then looked at it. "Well guys," she said, "Here's our map."
Hey guys, it's quartz miner18, and I was asking for some feedback. I don't want to have a book like all the other fan fictions, and I want to know how to make this book stand out. Also, yes, I did realize that this is pretty much Aaron's backstory on steroids. (Rest in peace, Aaron)
