Soooo I know that it took forever to get this chapter up, but I have a totally valid excuse lol. My desktop got overheated and it started sparking. My computer was really crappy and old, so I guess it was its way of telling me to get a new one. Well that's what I choose to believe anyway lol. I got a new computer but the sucky thing is that the chapter I was working on was saved to the old one and my new one isn't coming until next week, so I had to upload with my really crappy phone. I know the chapter is short, but please just bare with me and the next chapter will be great. So yeah, enjoy :)

To the right you will see a pic of the beautiful, Summer!

Chapter Three: A New Day

I woke up at about 9 am like I do every morning and continued on with my usual routine. That consisted of rolling around in bed for another five minutes, then getting up to blast my morning wake up song, Bittersweet Symphony while eating a bowl of mini wheats. Then after all of that I got my ass in the shower. I don't really know why I get up at 9 when my first class doesn't start until 1. I guess it's because my body is basically programmed to get up at that time. Well, that and I don't wanna be a lazy ass.

After I got out of the shower, I threw on a v-neck tee, maroon jeans, and slipped on a pair of moccasin booties. I love being comfortable, no matter how outdated my style may be. After I clothed myself I walked over to my window to appreciate my beautiful view of the city and the Coronado Bridge from afar. I'm terrified of heights, but I stand by Richard Gere's character in Pretty Woman when I say that the higher you are the better, especially when you live in a fifty story sky-rise. It's crazy, I don't even go on my patio to overlook the city. Looking forty-three stories down is way too intense for me. I cry like a baby on rollercoaster rides that are considered to be 'kiddie' rides at the Del Mar Fair every summer. Last year I discovered that taking shots of vodka before attempting to go on a rollercoaster is a real courage boost. Plus I had tons of fun, even though I ended up puking afterwards. Never take six shots of vodka right before going on a ride called 'Spin Master.' Big mistake. Big. I'm just going to limit myself to three from now on.

Well anyway, the view from my apartment is pretty amazing, especially at night when the city is lit up. The residential building across from mine has these really cool rainbow lights that are displayed to outline the building. It's pretty trippy.

While I stood there taking in the view, I heard someone at the door. "That's really weird. I didn't ring anyone up," I said to myself. My first reaction is to get really defensive. There is after all an uninvited guest banging on my door at 10 in the freaking morning. "Who the hell is it?!" I shouted as I made my way to the door. "Summer? What are you doing here?" I opened the door only to see my best friend standing there with two grande size Starbucks coffee cups in her hands.

"Is that how you greet your guests?" she replied with a smirk on her face.

"Well you did come unannounced," I retorted as we made our way to the couch. "How did you get in the building anyway? You need a key just to ride the elevator."

"I have my ways," she replied with a mock, evil grin. "Besides, I brought you a carmel macchiato so stop with the twenty one questions, capiche?"

"Yeah yeah whatever, " I groaned as I grabbed the cup out of her hand. Summer is a very beautiful girl with a tough chick attitude. She's also a Scorpio, so you know what that means. I know what you're thinking. Her name is Summer, but she was born in November? Yeah, her parents were hippies who fell in love at Woodstock. Her full name is Summer Love Paz Tuscano. She was born on a commune, but when her parents passed away she moved to the suburbs with her aunt and uncle. We have been next door neighbors since she was two and I was one.

She is so gorgeous that guys and girls hit on her. With her long, dark mane, amazing olive skin, piercing green eyes, and killer curves she had every guy eating out of the palm of her hand. She knew how to use her looks to an advantage, which is probably how she got into the building. Silly me for asking. If she wasn't my best friend since we were little, I would have turned her out a long time ago. But that would just be weird. Also with me being a Virgo, our personalities sometimes clash. I love her to death, but she can be a bitch sometimes.

"Listen," she said suddenly with a worried look on her face. "I know you're not into the whole dating and relationship thing, but could you please do me a favor?"

'Ughh what could she possibly be asking me to do?'

"You know that guy I've been seeing?" she asked as she fidgeted in her seat, looking down at her hands.

'Where the hell is she going with this?'

"Yeah... Jake something or other?"

"Yeah, well since we met at that Kings of Leon concert over the Summer, we've really hit it off. We have so much in common and we spent so much time together these past couple of months. You know me, I don't give anyone the time of day. He was just really persistent in getting me to go out with him and not in the creepy annoying way either. I liked that about him."

"This is all really great Sum, but what does this have to do anything? I mean, what's the favor?" I corrected myself. I didn't wanna burst her bubble or anything. Despite what you may think, I'm actually happy for her. This guy must be pretty awesome if he actually had the courage to talk to her. She intimidates everyone. Not just guys. She also isn't easily intimidated and never gets nervous to ask people questions, especially not me. She must really like this guy. Interesting. I mean, I personally don't think it's a good idea to get hooked on anyone, but if she's happy I can't be mad.

"Damn girl, I was getting there." She snapped back. "Well anyway, Jake and I went to dinner last night and he asked me to be his girlfriend.... I said yes. " A look of shock overcame me. "Now for the favor. So Jake had a really good idea...he thought it would be awesome if I set you up with his best friend. Don't worry, his best friend's a girl, so you can get that look off your face. Well yeah he wanted the four of us to go on a double date. Please don't say no. I'm not asking you to fall in love with her or even go out with her again. Just think about it at least. You might even know her; she went to our high school. I haven't met her, but she was in your graduating class. Ummmm...her name is...Stephanie or Sally something. I don't really remember. I he- "

"Woah woah woah slow down. You gotta let me take all this in first. So let me get this straight. You want to set me up with someone even though you know that totally goes against my personal beliefs?"

"Yeah, pretty much," she half smiled. With the look on her face right now I could tell she was desperate. How could I say no? It is only one date and I don't have to show any interest in her.

"Okay just making sure. Well I don't know anyone named Stephanie or Sally but okay, I'll do it. "

A huge smile appeared on her face as she attacked me with a huge hug, practically suffocating me. "Oh my gosh! Thank you so much Madison. You're a lifesaver! I so owe you one. And don't worry about paying. Jake and I will get the bill"

"And by Jake and I, you mean Jake right?" I smartly replied then I immediately got punched in the shoulder. "It was worth it," I laughed.

"Yeah whatever. All you have to do is show up. Be at Taverna Blu by 8 on Friday. I gotta head to class but call me later, capiche? " she said as she gathered her things and made her way to the door.

"Summer," I called out suddenly. She quickly turned around. "I'm happy if you're happy." She just smiled then walked out the door.
