The Video on the right is in no way related to the chapter, I just really like the song :) I tried making a slideshow of pics, but it's not working for dome reason :(

Chapter 6: Text Message Gangstas

It’s a beautiful Monday afternoon inSan Diegoand instead of being at the beach enjoying the last days of August, I’m sitting in Dr. Vienna’s English class, alone. Lucky me. I can’t complain too much though, I did have a pretty chill weekend. After Sara hit me with her secret which was shocking might I add, we hung out around Hillcrest. I’ve always loved going to Hillcrest. Not only because it’s a huge gay community inSan Diego, but because it had really awesome thrift stores. I particularly liked Flashbacks because it had a lot of cool vintage clothing. Sara picked out these really cool Annie Hall sunglasses for me to try on and if you have no idea which ones I’m talking about, then Google that shit. Annie Hall is a Woody Allen comedy from the 1970’s starring his greatest muse at the time, Diane Keaton. In the movie Diane Keaton’s character, Annie Hall wore these signature sunglasses with a round frame. She’s pretty much the only person who looked good in them because I looked like a fool when I wore them. Props to Sara for actually knowing Woody Allen films. People our age don’t usually appreciate the classics. Annie Hall is a good film to check out if you like witty humor.

Well anyway, Sara bought some really cute outfits. She looked sexy rockin’ the high waisted shorts with oxford shoes and that’s saying a lot considering most people can’t pull that look off. It’s pretty rare to even use the words high waisted and sexy in the same sentence. You would not catch me wearing them. You could however see me in my awesome new Sonic Youth tee of their ‘Goo’ album. Look it up if you like experimental music. I was pretty stoked when I found the shirt because I had been looking for it for a while now. Eight dollars for a thirty dollar shirt I could have bought online? Please and thank you.

After the thrift shopping, we roamed a couple record stores and I found some really good albums. I got a new Hendrix and Otis Redding album to add to my collection. Well, technically they’re old, but they’re new to me. I never would have guessed in a million years that Sara collected vinyl. Apparently she has a really big collection of 60’s and 70’s rock and soul albums that her uncle left to her when he passed away. Sara’s pretty cool in my book and we seem to have a lot in common. I never imagined myself saying this, but I can’t wait to hang out with her again.

Then on Sunday, as you know, I babysat for my neighbor. Jessica is by far the coolest and most relaxed five year old I’ve ever met, so it was no burden that I spent six hours with her while her parents had a day for them. They’re good friends of my parents, so I really didn’t mind and it never hurt to have a few extra bucks in  the bank. They were always really generous. Two hundred bucks just to hang out with a five year old. I can’t complain, I’ve always loved kids. I personally don’t have siblings, which was a total bummer growing up. I also never really got to see my cousins except for on holidays because they lived everywhere butCalifornia.

With five minutes left until class time, the rest of my classmates began piling in and I was no longer alone with my own thoughts. I’m sitting here praying that no one sits next to me. If only it were possible to create an invisible shield to keep people away.
