Chapter 14:

I spend all night at the cabin. Sloan hasn't shown up. In the morning I look around the cabin. I'm about to have to walk for a long time to get any type of signal.

While I am looking around I find a phone. I call Keegan and tell her where I am. I ask her to pick me up. She says that she is on her way. I wonder why Sloan hasn't shown up. Her God dad made it sound like she was coming.

Twenty minutes later Keegan shows up. I get in her car and she says, " Where do you want to go?"

" I want to go to Sloan's to see why she didn't come."

" Ok well when we get there I will stay outside."

I nod. She starts driving. In thirty minutes we get to Sloan's. I get out and go knock on her door. She doesn't answer. I open the door and say who it is before I walk in.

She isn't here. I wonder where she is. It doesn't look like she sleeped here last night. I go out and ask Keegan to drive me to see Mark.

She drives me to his restraunt. I get out and go inside. I ask to speak to him. I tell the hostess my name. Not long after he comes out and has me follow him to the back room where a lady and Emerson are.

He tells me to sit down so I do. He says, " So as I know Sloan didn't show up last night. You are probably wondering why. Well she was on her way with the kids to see you but something happened along the way. Someone kidnapped her and Cayson. The only way I found out is because they dropped Emerson off infront of my house. She had a note that said that the person wants me to step down from the mob. They said that if I want to see them again then I have two days and if I call the cops then they will be killed. Luckily I have a camera pointed at my door at all times. I know who kidnapped them. There will be a war. I need you to take Emerson and keep her safe. I can get you a hotel room."

" Wow. Well why did they take her and Cayson but sent you Emerson?"

" Because the person knows how important they both are to me. Don't get me wrong Emerson is important to me too but not as much as Cayson. When Cayson gets older he will take my place in the mob. This person knows this. The person also knows that since Sloan is my God daughter I would do anything for her."

I nod and then say, " Ok well I will take Emerson but I will take her somewhere I find safe because no one will expect me to have her. If you get me a hotel room then the person will probably figure it out. Please just get Sloan and Cayson back."

" Trust me I will. This person fucked with the wrong one."

I nod. I take Emerson and walk to Keegan's car. I put her carseat in. I get in and ask if we can stay at her house. She says that we can. I ask her not to ask any qustions about Emerson. She nods.

On the way to her house my dad calls me. I answer. He says, " Gracen get your ass home. Zuri has told me who you have been seeing. Get home now."

He hangs up. I say, " Change of plans my dad wants me home. Fucking Zuri has told him about Sloan. I need you to take Emerson to your house. I will be over as soon as I can."

She nods. She drives me to my house and I get out. She drives away. I go inside. My dad is sitting at the table. He has me sit down. As soon as I sit down he says, " I'm not happy with what Zuri told me. Were those babies her's?"

" Yes sir."

" Well I don't want you to see her again. You don't need to go down that road. She is nothing but trouble."

" I love her. I know about her past and I know what her family does. Just because I am with her doesn't mean that I will do anything bad."

" It isn't that simple. If she gets in trouble and you are with her then you will get in trouble also. If you keep seeing her then you will have to move out of my house."

" I can't believe you are doing this. I'm not going to pick between her and you dad. I have to go to Keegan's."

I get up and go get my car. I drive off.
