Two days later:

Sloan wakes up and I am sitting next to her in a chair. I have been bouncing back and forth between her and Cayson's rooms. After a four hour surgery they told us that Sloan would be ok that the bullet didn't hit any major organ. They put her in a medicine induced coma so that she wouldn't wake up to any major pains. They took her off the meds this morning. They are still giving her strong meds though for the pain. However they are only giving it to her every three hours. Cayson stint was good and they haven't had to work on him since. They also put him in a medical coma and they still have him in it since he is so young.

Slaon motions for something to drink. I go and get her a cup of water. I bring it back to her and she drinks it. She says, " Where is Cayson and where am I?"

" Babe your in the hospital. You were shoot. Cayson is on the floor below. The bullet went through you and hit him."

She tries to get up but I don't let her. She says, " Gracen I need to go see him."

" You can't right now. Until the doctors say that it is ok you are to stay in this bed. He is in a medical coma anyways. Don't freak out and let me explain. He had to have surgery. The bullet hit his heart but they put a stint in that is holding. They only have him in the coma still because he is so small and they don't want him to freak out because of the pain. He is doing fine though. I bounce between rooms."

She was scared at first but she seems like she has calmed down. I kiss her and she kisses me back. She says, " Thank you baby."

" For what?"

" For taking care of Cayson while I couldn't."

" You don't have to thank me for that I was just doing my job as a mom."

" Where is Emerson?"

" Don't worry Keegan and Zane have been watching her."

" Ok. Have I told you that I love how you are with the kids?"

" Yes hunny and I wouldn't trade you or the kids for the world. You guys are my world."

" And you are ours. That is why I want to ask you something."

" You need your rest."

" I know but first I want to ask you to marry me and to adopt the kids so that we can be a family."

" Yes I would love to."

" I want to do it right away."

I nod. The nurse comes in and lets me know that Sloan needs her rest. I get up and walk to my son's room. I sit in the chair next to his crib. Mark is there. I say, " Sloan is awake but the nurse said that she needs her rest. She asked me to marry her. She said the sooner the better. She also wants me to adopt the kids."

" That is amazing. I see how good you are with the kids and I couldn't be happier for Sloan. You have really stepped up to the plate with Cayson. Not only with Cayson though when Sloan and him went missing you really stepped up with Emerson also. I know you will make an amazing mom to them."

I smile at what he says.
