"Not one step closer!" I said firmly at the creep before me. I had had a few encounters with men like him in my short lifetime. I could sense someone's intentions before they even knew their own intentions, and tonight was not his night to fulfill his addiction.
"I said, BACK OFF!" The odorous, tall balding man continued to slither my way; undeterred by my threats. "I know Ninjutsu!" "HA!" the man maliciously cackled. (I had only had about 3 weeks of training, but there was no way I was going to let him know how fearful I truly was).
Before I could gather myself the man sprang at me and cuffed his hand over my mouth so I couldn't scream for help, and held both of my hands behind my back with his other hand. I tried to knee him in his crotch but the slender drunken fool proved stronger than he looked."Oh my God, this is it.." I thought. He's going to kill me...
"You know, only the kinkiest of ladies would find that attractive." I heard a strong Brooklyn accent coming from above. My mind raced, "huh?" "The roof??" "Who gets on rooftops?" Both the predator and I looked above, wide-eyed and searching for the source of the voice.
"That's right, punk!" "Let the lady go!"
This time, I saw the glowing of two eyes and could feel the man's grip loosening around my mouth. This was my time to act; while he was distracted. I quickly raised my leg and kicked him as hard as I could with my boots. I heard him let out a loud groan and fall to the wet alley. I ran, with fear and hot tears blurring my vision. It didn't matter that I couldn't see properly; I just knew I had to run, and fast. I stopped in front of a Walgreens where there were enough people and lights to protect me.
After I had calmed down enough I called my sister.
"Hello?" She sounded half asleep, but thank goodness Becca answered her phone. "Oh man, am I glad you answered!" I just had a horrible encounter, and I just need you to stay on the phone with me until I reach the apartment." I half whimpered, half yelled.
"Okay, okay, Adelina!" "Calm down!" "I'm here sis...I'm here..."
I felt that warm feeling. Whenever I was scared when I was younger, Becca was always my best friend to seek comfort in. She was the best big sister I could ever ask for. I was always thankful for our closeness. It's nice to know I'm never alone in this world.
I began to walk the 3/4 mile trek to my apartment. It was a moonless night, so even the lights of the city couldn't brighten my path. About halfway home I felt something. I raised my head to the rooftops. I stared into the blackness for about 10 seconds before Becca interjected, "Hello?....."HELLO?" I shook my head and broke the long stare on the roof. "I'm here, it's just...something caught my attention." "Okay sis, just stay with me" Becca said.
I still couldn't shake that feeling that someone was watching me...
