"Cali! Wait!" Mason called out, bolting after her. Cali giggled as her feet hit the ground, she could here Mason behind her. Suddenly she turned and then turned again putting did distance between her and Mason. Fear pumped through his veins as he watched Cali weave in and out of the trees. "Cali! Cali, wait! Its not safe back here! Cali!" Mason gasped. "You can't catch me!" Cali yelled back disappearing through some brush. Horrified, Mason stopped when the sound of Cali's foot steps came to an abrupt halt. The graves were just beyond the brush. Mason's heart pounded out of his chest. After a few moments of silence, he cautiously moved forward, crawling through the brush. He looked onward onto the decorative graves, remembering their contents. Brooke, Misty, Maria, Merida, Ali, Jessica.... A twig snapped in the distance bring him back to reality. Nervously he looked around, but Cali was no where to be found. "Cali?" Her name gently left his mouth. "Yes?" Mason heard Cali's soft reply behind him. He jumped around, startled. "Cali, I.." He began to speak before she threw her head back in laughter. "You should have seen your face!" She said between laughs. Mason let out a nervous chuckle, "yeah.....listen we should head back. We don't want to miss the movie" He said, urging Cali back towards the house. Cali twisted around his efforts and wandered about the rose bushes. Ignoring his efforts she spoke, "so this is where you put all the rose bushes?" She smiled admiring them. Masons jaw clenched and he nervously responded, " Um, yeah. Listen can we just go." Cali looked up confused. Mason had never been uneasy. He was always smooth and confident, but now he seemed like a nervous wreck. "Are you alright, Mason?" Cali questioned, " We can go if you want, it's just neat out here. I didn't mean to upset you." Pull it together. Mason took a deep breath, "I'm fine, I just.." His voice trailed as he tried to think of something, " don't want to miss the movie, that's all." Cali nodded at his suspicious behavior. Suddenly feeling uncomfortable, she agreed and walked towards his outstretched arm. She reached out to him when she tripped and fell on a bush. Long thorns pierced her flesh all over and she yelped in pain. "Cali!" Mason reached towards her. She propped her self on her hands and looked down to see a name tag tied to the bush. It read: Jessica. "Jessica?" Cali said puzzled. "What?" Mason asked taken aback. "Why is this bush labeled Jessica?" She asked boldly. Mason shook his head, " I like to give the bushes names." He spoke quickly to change the subject, "Come on let's go get you cleaned up, are you okay?" He innocently asked grabbing her arm. He began to pull her up as Cali scanned the bushes reading their names. Her eyes focused on one. "Cali." She gasped. "Why does this one say Cali? Why did you name these other ones these names?" Cali questioned with fire in her eyes. Mason was stunned by her reaction and stumbled on words trying to find some to piece together. Alas, he could find none. "Cali..." He spoke as his breath quickened, "please," he begged, "let's just go." He grabbed her arm, but she yanked out of his grip. "No!" She snapped, "I'm not going anywhere until you explain yourself!" She crossed her arms raising her brow at Mason."Cali, please. Let's just go and forget about this, I don't want to hurt you." "So don't!" Cali shouted back, "just tell me what this is." " It's not what you think," Mason pleaded. "I don't know what to think. Please, enlighten me." Her sarcastic tone sparked a fire within Mason. His expression grew dark, "we're leaving" he said, gripping her arm and pulling her away from the graves. "Excuse me," Cali struggled and slipped out of his grip. "I am not going anywhere with you." She began to back away from him. "Yes you are." Mason shot back angrily and bolted towards Cali. Cali jerked out of his way and began running further into the woods.
The chase continued until Cali suddenly stopped at the edge of a short cliff. Mason stopped noticing the trap she put herself in. "You weren't supposed to know." He spoke passionately with anger. "I told you to atop, but you didn't. You didn't listen! You did this! This is your fault!" He walked closer as he spoke, backing her to the edge. Suddenly Cali contorted her way around him and pushed him to the edge. He let out a muffled scream as his foot slipped. He fell and caught the edge of the rocky cliff. Cali knelt down to his face, "I know." She stepped on his hands twisting her ankle, loosening his grip. He slipped abruptly and took the short fall to the rocks below. Call watched, panting, as blood pooled around his figure. Momenta later, with teats streaming down her face she bolted back to the house. Within a few hours she had talked to five officers, repeating her story. She was exhausted and just wanted to go home. "I just want this nightmare to be over." She spoke watching her tears hit the ground. Another hour, and she crawled out of a squad car and shuffled to her front door.
