I took a step outside and hummed a soft tune to myself. I was ready for an adventure.
I looked down at the red cloak and smiled. I smelled the collar of it. The scent still smelled like her. I remember her story. It was one of my favorites when I was younger.
You know, Little Red Riding...well that's my mother. Silly her. Talking to strange animals. Well it could have been something else.
I awoke out of my thoughts to see a young girl staring at me.
"Hey lady! Are you new here? I've never seen you around before," She asked twirl a strand of her curly golden locks on her pointer finger. "Ya know if you're looking for town a shortcut is through the woods. Actually I was just on my way into the woods. I smelled porridge. I love porridge! I hope its made just right!"
I smiled softly and turned my phone on. Thirty-two percent battery life. I sighed and looked back at the girl.
"I-I will c-come but who ar-re you?" I studdered, I have never talked to anyone out of the family before, I never imagined it being this hard.
"Oh sorry. I'm Golgi. Daughter of Goldie Locks. Fourteen year old I'm assuming you're daughter of Little Red. " She smiled cheekily and grabbed my wrist.
"Yea, my name is Amie. I'm fifteen" I smiled. I felt more calm. This was my first friend!!!
"Your name is to die for. I mean whoever heard of a girl name's Golgi. Anyway here take this." She giggled and slid a bracelet on my wrist. "Oh and can I go with you to the store. It seems so fun!!!"
"Thanks, and of course you can! I guess we should stop by your destination first."
"Yea it shouldn't take long. But lets start walking." We both smiled and started to walk.
"So have you been this route before?" I asked not wanting to have any silence.
"Yea just to the store though. I like adventures. Its going to be so fun!!!" Golgi cheered. Her curls followed her every movement. I watched each one bounce. "Your hair is pretty ya know?"
I flinched out of that weird trance. "Buts its boring, brown, and straight." I replied.
"Well Red, we could give you red highlights."
"Red? That's not my name! And I could use red highlights."
"Its a nickname!" She laughed and I laughed with her.
