Konoha's Golden Rose

Prologue

Steel rained down on Naruto in the dark of the night. Moonlight flooded his vision as he was slashed, stabbed, and beaten in the rat infested alley. The six year old had tried to pick up a kunai pouch for a chunnin, he was mistaken to be a thief.

The remnants of sake bottles and their contents were just under Naruto, the glass pushing up into his body. Pain coursed through Naruto as he screamed and thrashed against the shinobi. His screams only served to increase the enjoyment for the shinobi. His smiles coated with malice, his kunai with Naruto's blood, Naruto's screams with pain.

Naruto was about to pass out, it was too much, but as soon as it started, it ended. "Wake the fuck up demon!" Yelled out a chunnin who was in the process of pulling his kunai out of Naruto's leg. Naruto did what he had been doing, he screamed in pain. "P-please s-s-stop." Naruto whimpered at the chunnin above him. Naruto's words brought out more rage, the chunnin jumped up and landed with his knee firmly placed on Naruto's chest. Naruto yelped in pain as some of his ribs shattered under the pressure.

"Did YOU stop when my little sister begged you to. NO!" The chunnin shoved his kunai into Naruto's right eye and twisted the blade. Then pulled out his blade and slashed Naruto from the top of his right eye to just below. Naruto screamed in pure agony, Naruto's blood curdling scream was heard by an aged man. He ran into the dark alley and kicked the chunnin off of Naruto, who passed out from the pain.

The aged man's blood boiled at the sight in front of him, he ran forward and killed the chunnin in a blind rage. The man ran back to Naruto and quickly healed the life threatening wounds. The aged man picked up Naruto and ran as fast as his old bones could carry him to a hospital.

Hiruzen Sarutobi, Sandaime Hokage. Capable of using all change in Chakra natures. Heralded as the god of shinobi, teacher of the legendary sannin. Was crying like a child in front of Naruto's broken form.

Sarutobi recoverd once he had been reassured by the rouge medic who had found Naruto. "Please, tell me your name." Sarutobi said as he twirled his thumbs around each other. The white haired man gently caressed Naruto's cheek, Naruto leaned into the touch as he stopped grimacing in pain.

"Shinnõ." Said the white haired man of the two old men. Sarutobi raised a brow at the word, his confusion written on his face. "You asked me my name didn't you?" Asked Shinnõ with a bitter chuckle after the short sentence.

Sarutobi nodded at Shinnõ and prepared to ask a life changing question. The first crack of dawn shined through the room, the two men basked in the golden rays. Naruto shifted on the bed as his hair uncovered his right eye.

Sarutobi gagged slightly at the sight of Naruto's eye, and looked away. "Don't look away Hokage-sama, Naruto will suffer far more if you can't look at him on even ground." Said Shinnõ as if speaking from his own experiences. Sarutobi summoned up his will and looked at Naruto. Sarutobi was reminded of something as he stared at the gaping hole left by Naruto's missing eye.

"Hawk." Sarutobi said with a steely voice. An ANBU with a hawk mask apeared before the Hokage. "Get me Shimi's eyes." Commanded the aged Hokage, the ANBU dissappeared. Shinnõ was throughly confused at the Hokage's words. "Why get a specific persons eyes?" Asked Shinnõ as he put up his hood, he suddenly felt naked without it on his head.

"Uchiha Shimi." Said Sarutobi, Shinnõ nodded in understanding of the Uchiha name and it's kekkei genkai. "He's a lucky boy then." Said Shinnõ with a nod. Sarutobi asked the question he had been meaning to ask for much of the time he's been in the room. "Shinnõ. . . Can you take Naruto with you out of the village?"

The white haired man didn't think about the question. "If anyone deserves a home, it's Naruto." Shinnõ said as he had been told of Naruto's life by the Sandaime while he was healing the boy. "Thank you, however, if you are going to be taking Naruto. You are going to have to take this."
