"I'm thinking you are all crazier than you look" I said. I focused on my unpainted nails. Slightly dirty, they bugged me.
"We aren't crazy" He argued.
I started laughing.
"You aren't the most sane bunch" I said.Looking up, he narrowed his eyes. Setting a glass of water in front of me he sat down. I turned my attention to the glass. No calories but if I drink too much that can lead to water weight... But, if I don't drink it I might pass out again this week. Which takes away my upper hand in this situation. I sipped it cautiously before noticing he was watching me. A smirk set on to his curved lips. I swallowed hard.
I hadn't realized how much of a stranger he truly is. How the innocence I've been looking for might of never been there in the first place.
"Are you going to want to take a shower?" He asked out of the blue.
"Yes" I conjured, "please".
He nodded and got up, I copied. He led to a room that I could bet was Memes. Everything screamed her name. I took note on how she dressed, how she kept her room, and by the looks of it- I wasn't the only one observing her. I looked back at James.
"Do you have clothes I can change into?" I asked.
"Just take something from the closet" His voice was bored and bothered.
"Honey," I clicked "Have you seen us? We aren't the same size".
His eyebrows knitted together, then his eyes examined me. He looked kind of confused as he stared, I felt so self conscious standing there."I guess" He finally managed to say.
It really wasn't that hard to see that I'm fat and she's skinny."I'll see what I can do, towels should be hanging up or in the side cabinet. I'll be back" He shrugged.
I headed to the bathroom, I was in desperate need of a shower. My stomach growled, a deep emptiness in my stomach. It made me feel good. It made me feel skinny.
The water started with a cold spray, quickly, I turned the dial to warm. I slid back into the room, grabbing her deodorant, perfume, and hair brush. That knocked a few things off the list. James came back when I was digging in her limited variety of make up.
"You're in luck, Dan snatched this for you" He said thrusting my usual overnight bag at me, along with my travel make up case. It was not so travel sized, but it could fit everything so it was great. But if Danny knew I needed it before I even talked to him it worried me. How long did he think I was staying?
"Thanks" I replied weakly.
James nodded, closing the door behind him when he left. I went back to the warm shower. He packed all of my hair products, make up, and other every day necessities. My own brush traced my hair before I stripped down. Goosebumps crawled against my skin. What have I gotten myself into? My dad's going to be so mad that he doesn't know where I am. Was that even my biggest worry? I questioned. One good thing was that it felt really good to be clean. My back had ached from being tied up but the water helped relax my muscles. The dial dented in and the water shut off. I squeezed some water out of my hair before wrapping it in a towel, another towel around my body. I heard the door open and I peered out from the doorway. It was Meme.
I stepped fully out, relieved.
"Oh thank God!" She ran over to me "if you weren't in just a towel I'd hug you".
I couldn't help but laugh at how happy she was to see me. I was happy to see her too.
"I was so worried..." She rambled on.
"I'm okay. Nervous, scared, and extremely uncomfortable. But okay" I nodded.
She ran her hand through her hair, it was one of her tells.
"This is bad, really really bad. He's lost his damn mind" Her voice dropped.
"You think he'll hurt me?" I asked running a hand through my sopping wet hair.
"I- I think he might try to kill you. He threatened it" She said with a nod.I rubbed my temples, trying to suppress tears. But some slipped out on my damp skin anyway.
"Oh God, Meme, what do I do?" I started to walk to the pile of clothes.
"Get dressed, we're going to need a plan," Her voice dropped to a whisper "We can't talk right now". Her words were barely audible, I looked to see if anyone was around but they weren't.
