Please kill me. This is great so great. What's better than trying to get away from school that has all the people who know you and think you're a whore and ending up in a place where everyone knows you and thinks you're a whore?
Not that it was true. I mean, of course Dalton had to say something. He always does. But that's not why I was popular, in fact, I wasn't popular. Sure I had a reputation.
"Still bored?" James asked breaking the silence.
I've had enough 'excitement' in one day to last. The last thing I want to do is go and play let's say Monopoly and find a dead body.
"You don't have to entertain me" I nudged.
He put his hands up defensively.
"If you change your mind I have books" He said.
"Wouldn't want to start a book I won't finish" My shoulders shrugged.
"Why wouldn't you?" He questioned.
A ran a hand through Crimson locks, "I'm getting out of here".
"Didn't you kind of ruin your only chance? You think you're pretty smart but that doesn't begin to melt Danny's stubbornness. Or, the fact that he isn't blind" He countered.
I nodded.
I know Danny, hell, he probably knows more about me than I do. But I've been playing the cat and mouse game since day one. Or what other people call 'The first day of freshmen year'.
I had to get out of her, there was no way I was going to waste my last summer.
All you have to do is play your cards right and build reputation. This is true in any scenario. It was so simple that it wouldn't be escape, it would be the game. Danny thinks he beat my because he only pretended to be my friend.
"So do you have any questions for me?" He asked.
I crossed my legs, fidgeting with the cotton interior of my hoodie. I did, I had a million questions. But Meme can read people, if she felt the need to warn me about him I had to be weary.
I pondered some questions until one came to me.
"What's with the sleeping situation?" I asked.
No way would I break my back on the hard floor over some rude people.
"What about it?" He stretched his back.
"I mean, am I the only one without a bed? I'm going to always have to sleep in there? Like..." I started flustered.
"Calm down, we are still figuring things out. But I don't think Danny cares enough to settle you in if he only cares about Meme" He said.
Great, just great. So I sleep on the floor when I'm not even supposed to be here. Not that I would want her on the floor instead, it's just called planning ahead.
"Also, look at me. Look me in the eyes," I said and he did. "You are not tying me up again like that, I don't care if you want to render me useless. This isn't the set of a cheap porno, it hurts" I said.
He laughed.
"I don't think this is how it works, aren't I supposed to be giving you the rules?" He said.
I glared at him, he continued to stare into my eyes.
"Okay don't look at me I'm ugly," I said shielding my face. "And yes, it is how this works because it's rude! You try it. It doesn't feel good" I argued.
"It's not supposed to feel good" He said.
I flicked his knee with my finger. He laughed like I was playing with him.
"Stop being so bogus!" I groaned.
"You are so funny" He continued to laugh.
"But I'm not joking..." I said with a stiff tone, which to him was even funnier.
He continued to try to make eye contact with me. Which, if you knew me was a huge no. I covered my face with one hand.
His face softened, for a moment I saw a half smile I knew all too well. How could he be the same person? The person that sat on the floor in the corner, drawing, while his sister poured her heart out to us? He had his sisters smile, well she had his, him being the older one. I couldn't help but smile lightly back. Until I thought of the person he is now...
So many times people try to argue why good people do bad things. Arguing it's how they were raised, pressure, or just their environment. I don't think any of that is true. If they were, why do some good people not succumb to these things? The truth, the only truth, is the good people who fall were never good to begin with.
My smile disappeared and I found my attention anywhere but him.
