...how reckless I have been
and I'm slowly running out of all the time that I invest in
making all the same mistakes
and I'm just trying to correct it and I fall...

A N G E L"Lord we ask that you nourish this food that we are about to receive. We ask that you take away all negativity and bring enlightenment to our lives from this wonderful day on. May you bless the lives of all at this table and continue to grace us with your presence and blessings. Today we give thanks but mostly to you. In Jesus name we pray..."
"Amen." We cheered as we dug into the food that we all prepared. It was just Aunt Janice, Lani, Cynthia, Chaniyah and me. Like every thanksgiving and it's just how I liked it. It had been a week since my encounter with Khyran and I've been avoiding him. The fact that he thought he could play God and take the life of a helpless man was beyond me and it was sickening.
"So how are you and my nephew in law." My auntie asked and Lani looked at me wondering the same thing. It aggravates me that all she would talk about was him but then again she had no idea who he really was.
"We were never together and we'll never be together."
"Why?" I shrugged.
"This taste sooo good Ms. Janice." Niyah said and we all laughed. I smiled at her happy she changed the subject.
"You like it?" She said smiling and I nodded.
These were the moments that I cherished. Spending time with my family which seemed to be the only thing that took my mind off the frivolous things like Khyran and I.

K H Y R A NAngel Angel Angel Angel Angel. That was all I could think about. I fucked up and I knew that but living in Detroit you see that shit everyday so what was the problem. I couldn't make this day about her too though.
I inhaled a deep breath as I fixed my collar on my white polo button down. My family was the only people who could make me as nervous as I was. I knocked on the door putting my hand in my jean pockets and looked down. I heard the door unlocking causing me look up quickly and there stood my father. I straightened my posture as he stared at me.
"Khyran."
"Wassup?" He took in my appearance and opened the door wider allowing me to step into the two story home. I looked around seeing that the house was full but I didn't fuck with any of these people. Only a few.
"Wassup y'all?" I said being respectful and most nodded and said hi. I looked at my sister who was in the corner with her nigga eyeing me. I didn't really fuck with her either for a few reasons but one reason was because she was with a nigga who beat her ass and thought no one knew.
"Hello Khyran." She said in her little preppy voice and I sucked my teeth.
"What Kay?" I said with irritation in my voice.
"Don't come over here with your fucking attitude. Your never here and when you are your disrespectful."
"Aye. Cut it out." My father said eyeing the both of us.
"You know it's true daddy. If he doesn't wanna be here he doesn't have to." I shook my head turning around walking away before being ambushed.
"Khyran!" My cousin said running up to me and jumping into my arms.
"Wassup lil man." I said smiling at him and he just cheesed.
"When you gonna come get me so I am chill with you?" He said with his head high and I chuckled.
"Soon...you seen your auntie?" I asked referring to my mom and he nodded.
