I let the sand fall through my hands an then pick it back up again, just to do the same as I sat in between Michael and Liz. It was about 5:30pm and my amazing day with them was coming to an end. We had spent the whole morning snorkeling and just hanging out by the beach and getting to know each other. They were so nice, and talkative they honestly just seemed like old friends, and I was actually probably going to miss them once we left.

After snorkeling we went to a cool boardwalk restaurant for lunch and then we went shopping for a bit, and now we are back here. This had been the most fun I had on vacation this whole time! It was basically like a vacation from my actual vacation.

"We'll we should probably get you home? Didn't you say you had to be home in time for dinner?"

I sighed dramatically, "Yeah, we should probably go now, if y'all don't mind?"

The agreed and we gathered our stuff and headed for the car. I was sad to be going home.

Michael and Liz dropped me off and we said our goodbyes. We planned on going to the carnival tomorrow night. After they left I slowly made my way up to the door.

I opened the door and I immediatly noticed there was an emptiness to it. Like something was missing.

In the dead silence, I walked into the house. I looked around in the kitchen and living room... Nothing.

"Hello?" I called through the house. The only response I got was my voice echoing back to me.

"In here!" My mom finally called out. It sounded like they were in their room.

I made the short walk down the hall. I walked in and found both of my parents running around their room, suitcases were out, and clothes were everywhere!

"What's going on?" I asked a little apprehensive.

"Um well.." My dad started, "Your mom and I have to go back to Tennessee for the weekend."

I was trying to process this through my mind. WHAT did they just say? Did I hear them right? They're leaving?

I'm sure I had the most confused look on my face because my mom started to explain in full, "A few days ago your dads best friend from his childhood was killed in a car accident. His funeral is tomorrow. So we are going to fly out to Tennessee tonight, go to the funeral tomorrow, and be back on Sunday. This is really important to your dad, so we need to go. But we also don't want to ruin y'all's vacation so we just figured you can stay here with Kimberly, Reid, and Neil. It will be good for y'all."

I was speechless. What. How. When. I have so many questions right now. But my first one is, WHY DO MY PARENTS THINK I WANT TO SPEND ALL THIS TIME WITH MY SIBLINGS? They obviously don't hear me when I say 'no'!

"Can I just come with?" I started to beg. I didn't really have anything to loose at this point!

My dad quickly stepped up, "No. You're staying here. I know you already have your mind set on that you are just going to ignore them and be rude. But you can't do that. Y'all defintaly have some things to work through. And you need to stay here and do it, ok?"

I stared at them. I didn't really know what to say.  They really did have a point though. Kimberly, Reid, Neil, and I had a lot to work through and I have a few things I probably should have told them months ago. But I didn't. And I just kept putting it off and ignoring them.

My mom came over to me and grabbed me in a side hug, "I'm sorry, Cait. You'll be fine though. We'll be back before you know it and we can have a great last week of vacation when we get back!" She said as optimistically as possible.
