Beca and Chloe had finally secured themselves an actual date night after two months of casually seeing one another. Becoming a well-respected name in the music industry had recently given Beca the opportunity to claim free entries into some of the top clubs in the area. It was fortunate that for once, her and Chloe had matching schedules so that they could leave the house together.
'You're such a celebrity', Chloe teased the brunette as they walked with linked arms past the club's security guard.
'Shut up', Beca sighed, rolling her eyes and dragging her into the crowds.
Once they were amongst the heaps of strangers- who were either busting some moves to the pounding house music or getting up close and personal with a 'friend'- they argued over who would buy the drinks.
'Find the booth and I'll get the round', insisted Beca.
'No, let me pay'
'It's my treat', the DJ smiled before heading off to the bar, leaving behind a squeeing Chloe, who was extremely excited to be sharing a booth with her. After two months of secrecy, late-night sweet nothings and cosy cuddles in the mornings, the magic was very much still alive.
Almost ten minutes later, Beca found Chloe at their mostly-hidden away table. She appeared to be using her phone as a way of telling people that she was waiting for someone; she was sat on the edge of her seat, typing away whilst momentarily glancing up from the screen as if to say 'Where is she?'.
'Sex on the beach for you', Beca said as she handed Chloe the beverage, which earned her a joking reply of, 'No thanks, I'm fine here'
'This drink is sex', Beca told Chloe after taking a sip of her Long Island iced tea and sitting down next to her.
'Hey- don't get too wasted on our first date'
Taking another sip and looking accusingly at the ginger, Beca pointed out the obvious, 'I handle my alcohol better than you, Chlo'
For a half a second, Chloe considered standing up for herself, but in reality, Beca was totally correct. She lowered her raised head into the rim of her glass in shame.
'...You look really nice tonight', complimented Chloe as quietly as she could whilst ensuring that she was being heard over the music.
Beca smiled somewhat flirtatiously, 'Are you talking to me like we're on a first date?'
'We are on a first date...'
'I mean, are you pretending that we don't know each other that well? For the effect?'
It wasn't her intention at first, but the more Chloe thought about the idea, the funnier and more appealing it seemed. She smirked, then held out her hand to shake Beca's. 'Nice to meet you, I'm Chloe Beale'
The DJ laughed awkwardly and kept a grip firmly around her drink. Next, when she realised that Chloe wasn't kidding about the roleplay, she relented and shook hands with her, saying, 'Beca Mitchell'
'So, Becky-'
'Beca', she corrected with a grin. Chloe knew how much she hated being called that, so it was a perfect test of her ability to keep in character as a polite dater.
'Beca, tell me about yourself. What do you do?'
Rolling her eyes and giggling in discomfort again, Beca looked ready to ask the redhead if she would quit it because the whole exercise was weird. Still, the curious expression on Chloe's face paired with a motion of slowly stirring her drink told her that not only was she serious about continuing the little game, but she was also a decent actress.
