Chapter Twenty-Two; Scandal
---
It was three in afternoon when Justin had come pick me up. Brian and Livy were already on the car, and I was still tired. My head was leaned on the window of the front seat, and then Justin reached over. "It's past 12. How are you still tired?" He asked.
"I don't wanna talk about it," I mumbled. Last night was hectic, and I know Justin will make me tell him later, or tomorrow. He nodded, and continued to drive.
"Mom! I don't want to talk about what I heard! All that I want to talk is about, is if you're pregnant, I'm moving out!" I yelled, and turned around to look at her. She stared at me.
"Why would you do that?"
"I'm not ready to start a different family." I said. "I don't want Mark to be my step-dad, and I don't want another sibling that isn't my full blood sibling. When you find out you're pregnant, I don't want anything to do with it!"
"Well, why don't you just leave now? Go fuck Justin or something, leave!" She spat harshly, using emphasis on 'fuck'. She thinks I really fucked Justin. Wow, what a mom.
"So you are pregnant?"
"Yes, I am." She admitted. "I got a pregnancy test yesterday, and two lines came up meaning I'm pregnant."
"I wish Dad was here!" I yelled harshly, storming out of her room, and into my room.
That whole night, I cried. Sang to myself. I literally sang and cried myself to sleep. Then, I was up at four in the morning to take away the redness and puffiness of my eyes. I only did that, so Justin didn't know I was crying.
No one noticed, but I guess my weariness gave Justin a sign that something was wrong. He's like the only person that can read me. "We're here!" Livy exclaimed, getting out the car.
Slumping out the front door of the car, Moshe was standing in the front of the mall. When we got inside, he trailed behind us, as we walked around. "Livy, since you're an expert for the mall, where can you find pink dresses?" Brian smirked.
"Forever 21, H&M, sometimes at American Eagle." Livy babbled, pointing out the stores. Justin chooses to go to Forever 21 first, and when we got up to the second floor, they walked in.
"Moshe, I got this. We'll be in." Justin said, gently pressing me again the wall. He put his hands next to my head to keep his balance, and started right into my eyes. "You were crying. Your eyes are still red."
"Why do you care anyways?"
"Because, I care about you." He grabbed my right hand with his left hand. "Why were crying?"
"Me and my mom argued last night." I whispered, feeling the tears coming. "Mark got her pregnant, and everything is happening so fast. I don't want to start in a new family just yet. When I threatened that I'd move out, she told me to go fuck you, and leave. Justin, she doesn't care about me. She cares about Mark more than me."
"You're her daughter. She loves you regardless. She's just going to through a phase just like you." He said, caressing my hand with his thumb. He smiled at me, and stood up on his feet. When he hugged me, every problem just vanished like that. "Now, let's go get you a dress."
We walked into Forever 21, and Brian was smirking at me. Livy was looking through clothes, and when he caught up to me, he put his arm around me. "I saw that. Justin makes you happy, and you can't deny it."
"I know," I sighed. "He's like the only one that can cheer me up after hours of crying."
"I'm here for you too." He assured. I nodded, and hugged him quickly. Justin and Livy had about five pink dresses, and Livy shoved me into a dressing room.
--
It took almost two hours to find a dress that I liked. I rarely wear dresses, so it was new to me. Livy helped me pick out matching things, because she also knew what the surprise was. So did Brian, and none of them would tell me!
When I got home, my three bags consisted of shoes, accessories, and the dress. The dress was white at the top, and when it hit the waist, it was pink. The bottom flared out, and Livy matched it with some nude colored heels. She didn't go overboard, but she got me a hot pink bow, and some bracelets.
After putting my bags next to my bed, I walked to the kitchen to see a note on the fridge.
'Aubrey, I broke up with Mark, and got an abortion. It's what you wanted, I didn't want to lose my daughter. I'm going to be over your Grandma's for a while until I feel like coming back to Stratford. There's money in the cookie jar, alarm is set up, and Grandma's new number is in your tablet. I love you, and don't think I hate you. I just need to get out if the environment for a while.
-Mom'
Wow, she didn't need to do all of that. Once I reread it, I called Justin. It's about 1am, since after we shopped, we stayed at Justin's. We partied a little, chilled watching a movie, and partied a little more. "Aubrey? It's one in the morning!"
"I-I know, I'm sorry. I-uh.." I stammered, sounding really stupid. "My mom dumped Mark, got an abortion, and left Stratford to my Grandma's. She said he didn't hate me, but I know she hates me."
"Do you want me to come over?" He asked, sounding very sincere.
"You don't have to." By that, I did want him to come over. He said he'd come anyways, and hung up. I curled myself into the blanket around me, and sat there. The tv flashing many colors, but no sound was coming from it.
As I was looking for the remote, the door opened, and Justin walked in. He sat next to me, immediately hugging me. This is want I wanted. A hug. His hugs are desired for. I know that's its just a hug but to me it means a lot.
Justin shifted to be facing me, and when we pulled away, he looked right at me. "You need to get out of Stratford, and chill for a little. There's too much going on, and we both can't take it."
"Let's go to camp?!" I exclaimed. "It's right outside of Stratford, and it'll be just us two."
"Okay. Let's leave on Saturday, and come back on Tuesday? You're surprise is still on for tomorrow." Justin smirked. I nodded, agreeing with his plan. His smirk disappeared as his eyes went down to my lips. He looked back up at me, shook his head, and turned toward the tv. "Are you alright alone or do you want me to stay?"
"Could you please stay?" I looked at him. He nodded, and we both walked up to my room. We're not rich so there's only two bedrooms. My room, and my mom's room. We both laid on the bed, and Justin got closer to me. "Justin, thank you."
"For what?" He asked.
"Everything. Being there for me, caring for me, being nice to me even though I've been an ass to you. I really don't deserve you." I said, and he grabbed my hand. We could still see each other from the street lights shining right into my bedroom windows.
"But I need you. We might still have our differences, but opposites attract right?" He asked. "Not in that kind of way.. Yah know.. Just as friends."
"Yeah, I know." I giggled at his nervousness. "Night Justin." And I kissed his cheek.
"Night," he turned his back toward me.
WAIT A FREAKING SECOND... I KISSED HIS CHEEK? OH MY GOD, WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME? HE'S WIRING ME INTO HIS LITTLE GAME! Yeah that's it! He isn't my friend. He's just doing this to get revenge!
No, you're just telling yourself that because you don't want to believe you kissed him. My inner voice could get annoying sometimes. Ignoring everything that just happened, I lulled myself to sleep, and the dreams.. Were as peaceful as I thought they would be.
