It had been three weeks. Three weeks of avoiding him. She struggled with the fact that he was an animus. But what she struggled most with was that it hasn't been a three moon night since the Dragonets of Destiny were born. She didn't ask afraid of the answer so she went about her days avoiding him and going through her classes. Even though he was in most of them.
It had been a nice day out when he finally gotten her attention. It was a free day for everyone so Mystical was in the library. Starflight had left the room to visit Fatespeaker so Mystical was the only one in there. She felt his mind approaching and she stood. Closing the scroll she was reading on animuses she put it back. Quickly trying to exit she nearly ran into him. Her wings dropped a bit for she did not want to speak with him.
"Mystical please let me explain." He pleaded. This wasn't the first time he tried to speak with her. But she would brush him off. She turned her head, face set in stone, and tried to walk by. He stepped in her way and she took a step back. "Don't push me away again, Mystical. All I want to do is explain." She lost it. Whispering harshly so no one could hear she replied.
"Explain what? I know you were born under three moons. But I don't know when. And I know for a fact that Moonwatcher and Winter are not your parents." She hissed at him. His eyes darkened.
"Well I'm sorry I'm not what you expected. But at least I healed you. You didn't even thank me. You just ran from the room. And now I'm sure that you will tell some one. I tried to help but apparently you don't want me to help." By now he stood tall and his wings were a bit spread. His eyes bored into her' s. Her eyes widened and she shrank lower, backing away. He realized his actions and immediately pulled back. She's scared of me. He thought. Tears welled up in her eyes. She's scared of me. He thought again. He took a step towards her but she stumbled back. A tear ran down her beautiful face. Guilt rushed through Shadowfrost and he lowered his head.
"Forgive me princess. I didn't mean to frighten you. I'll leave you alone. I won't bother you anymore. Just please don't tell anyone about me. That's all I ask." He closed his eyes and lowered into a bow. He knew he lost his only friend but he knew it was his fault.
"I forgive you, Shadowfrost." Her voice was shaking. No one was even close to the library so he knew no one heard their conversation. He opened his eyes but kept his head down. "And I won't tell anyone. I forgive you, please don't call me that though." Her voice was still shaking but she seemed more confident. She too realized that besides Rainy who was related to her, he was probably her only friend.
"I truly am sorry for frightening you though. That was unruly for me to do." Mystical lightly giggled. Shadowfrost rose his head and tilted it. Mystical strode up to him and hugged him. Shadowfrost was startled, no one hugged him. She nuzzled closer and he looked down. Wrapping his wings around her carefully he realized he had a friend. He buried his head into the crook of her neck. She giggled again and he smiled.
They pulled away and he smirked. "Thank you for forgiving me... princess." He added the last part and ducked as Mystical tried to punch him.
"Shut up... Shadow." He immediately doubled over. "What!?" Mystical asked as he laughed.
"Shadow? Really? Is that all you got?" He was still laughing when Mystical flared her wings.
"Fine! Shut up Frosty!" He stopped laughing immediately. Mystical revolt smiled at him.
"Oh you want to play that game Princess?" He lunged and Mystical shrieked and ran laughing out the door. Shadowfrost was hot on her tail. The two laughed as they flew into the sky.
Night came to soon and the two sat at the peek of Jade Mountain. They watched the moons rise together. Getting cold Mystical tucked herself into Shadowfrost' s side. He spread his wings wide and Mystical nuzzled closer. He put his wings around her and the to watched the moons rise high in the dark blue abyss.
He knew he had to tell her the truth soon but for now he just wanted to enjoy this while it lasted.
