Shadow didn't sleep for the rest of the night. His father's conversation haunted his dreams to the point that he refused to sleep. There was no way Mystical would forgive him. He had lost his first and only friend. Anger built up in him towards his father. Searching through the heaps of dragons he finally found the dragon he was looking for.

Dad, we need to talk. Shadow said to the dragon.

Of course my son. What seems to be the problem. His father answered sweetly.

You know what the problem is. It's you! I was going to tell her. I didn't need a creep to tell her through thoughts.

From what I saw of the future you weren't going to tell her. I simply helped. He replied.

Helped!? All you did was ruin our friendship. Shadow fired back.

Now Shadowfrost, we both know that you wanted more than a friendship with her. His father had struck a nerve. Before Shadow ended up burning everything he quickly went to an u underground lake. He stomped around before he responded.

Father please just don't speak with her. He was now begging and hated himself for it. His father sighed.

Fine. Anything for my boy. With that his father left his mind.

Shadow sighed. He now stood at the edge of the lake, staring at his reflection. He studied his shape. He was definitely bigger than most nightwings but no one seemed to notice. There were tear drop scales on each eye but he also had a silver scale that sat in the middle of his forehead. It was the sign for him being an animus. He hung his head in defeat. His wings drooped and a tear slipped down his cheek. He watched the single tear fall into the lake. Ripples cascaded throughout, creating a beautiful design. For once his emotionless face showed many emotions. He was sad, mad, tired, but most of all he was guilty. He was guilty for lying to Moon and Winter. He was guilty for being the reason that Darkstalker escaped. Yes, it was he who joined his power with the scroll that let the ground open. He only meant to let himself out. But instead he hurt hundreds. Including his adoptive parents. Him and his father were acquaintances but Shadow never called him his father. He was most guilty for not telling Mystical the truth. He cursed himself for not telling her.

"She probably hates me now. I'm the son of a monster. I'm not meant to have friends." He kept mumbling to himself, tears blurred his vision.

"I-I don't hate y-you." A soft voice said. Shadow rose his head. He turned to see someone standing at the door way. "I may not forgive you but I definitely don't hate you." She said more confidently. Mystical strode over to Shadow. He sniffles but looked down again.

I don't care what you did. Or who you are. Her mind openly stated. He rose his head to meet her eyes. Your father taught me how to block out other mind readers. And how to communicate with them. He told me about you. Anger coursed through him. Don't be mad at him. It was my idea anyway. She trailed off. He decided to try it.

I'm sorry. Was all he thought to her. She smiled at him. She scooted closer to him until he had his right wing over her tiny figure.
I know I should have told you. But-

But you were to afraid to lose me. She interrupted. His eyes met hers. He was shocked. She giggled, a sound that made his day. You let your mental guard down. That's how I was able to find you. Shadow immediately built back up the wall, which only made Mystical giggle more. Don't try and hide it from me. I know you like me. His smile dropped. And he looked away shyly.

"But hey, you've read my mind. Looks like the feeling is mutual." She simply stated. She wasn't used to being this forward but with Shadow, she felt like she could tell him anything.

Shadow pulled her closer and the two layed down. Mystical curled into his side, as if she was made for his side. Shadow pit his wing over her, covering most of her body. But don't think I have forgiven you yet, Frosty. She thought to him. He smiled and answered back.

I'm willing to wait as long as I need to. All I want is a friend. All I need is a friend. All I need is you.
