"How long were you standing there?" I asked politely as he began walking to surroundings I wasn't exactly familiar with. He grabbed the bag with the equipment and I was beginning to worry he wouldn't guide me home. My phone didn't have a GPS app and even if it did, I didn't have data to work my way around it.
"Long enough to hear plenty." He curtly said.
I winced, "are you angry?"
"No." His pace quickened and I struggle to maintain my speed.
"Was it because of what I said?"
"No." Damn him and his monosyllabic words.
"Are you okay?" When he didn't respond, I bit my lip, "is this because of Ally?"
He abruptly stopped walking and turned to me, "how many times do I have to say no to make your understand? I'm fine. " I frowned, his tone betrayed his words because he sounded anything but fine. He definitely had something bothering him and...I guess it wasn't my business. Ally and him have history. I shouldn't be curious about their relationship. He didn't exactly seem like he got over her, judging by the way he suddenly froze when he saw her.
I looked up to see him already walking ahead of me. I continued to run towards him looking at my surrounds until I paused and saw something familiar. I grabbed the back of his shirt and he turned around obviously ready to yell at me before I pointed to the left. His head turned towards the left and then his eyes landed on me with his eyebrows lifted.
"D-Diamond." I pointed, stating the obvious. The diamond is referred to as the baseball field and I learned that term from a grumpy pitcher. He told me to go to the diamond after school when I saw him. When I gave him a confused looked he swore, yelled, then told me what he meant. I don't know why he couldn't just tell me without looking so peeved all the time. Okay, so I was stupid when it came to baseball. He wasn't exactly Mr. Bright in math class, but you don't see me yelling at him for not getting the answer right when it was sooooo simple.
"I know that." He replied flatly, "I just don't know why you're pointing at it."
"T-Teach me some baseball tips!" I blurted out before I could tell myself that was probably the stupidest idea ever. Prolonging our 'alone time' wasn't exactly my idea of a fun time. It didn't exactly help that he wasn't in a good mood. Okay, well he isn't in a good mood half the time but seeing his ex-girlfriend did make him seem a lot pissier than his usual demeanour.
So I was ready for him to fully reject the idea because he didn't seem to enjoy teaching me baseball. Instead he started to walk to the diamond and when I just stood at the same spot dumbfounded, he turned to me, "are you coming or not?"
"You're not going to reject the idea?"
He furrowed his brows as he crossed his arms, "no." He said simply as if that was going to help me understand his change in behaviour. Maybe his meeting with Ally completely threw him off balance and he wasn't thinking right...or maybe he wanted to yell at me. It was probably the latter.
He unzipped his bag and threw an oversized glove at me. He then took the new glove he bought and a baseball. "You have an extra glove?" I asked when we entered the diamond, which was empty and had no other living species a part from grass.
He nodded, "yeah, I bring it around. I left my bat in my locker so I can't teach you to hit."
"so what are you going to teach me?" I put the oversized glove onto my hand and tried to move my hand.
