"Why are you glaring at me, Mina?" Luke smiled radiantly as my eyes narrowed and I looked away from him.

"I'm not glaring at you."

It was practice the next day and the moment I had saw Luke, it was almost animal instinct to glare at him. He had hurt Anna somehow and I was pissed in her stead. I don't actually even know the full length story. I just felt like I needed to protect Anna.

"Did Anna say something?"

"No." I stated firmly, well as firmly as I can. It wasn't like Anna to hate a boy, much less an attractive one. So, even if I didn't know what actually happen, I knew one thing: he hurt her bad.

"You're acting pretty cold to me today. Usually you act like this to Mark." He said in a playful tone as he adjusted his equipment.

"You're imagining it." I said with an impassive tone.

"Then I'm also imagining that Mark hasn't yelled at you today." He pointed out as if that had meant something.

I rolled my eyes, "I got better at my job in two weeks. He can't complain about it." My eyes darted towards Mark who was batting and Elliot who was pitching.

"How sad, you were all so shy talking to me the past week and now you're cold to me." If actually meant he was sad, his tone betrayed it.

"Maybe I warmed up to you." I deadpanned.

He laughed and I furrowed my brows.

"Mina, you're a lot more interesting when you're not all timid and shy."

"It's nice to know I can entertain someone from time to time." My voice was devoid of any emotion.

He grinned before he put on his helmet, "my break is over, I'll see you later Mi."

"Mi?" He didn't seem to hear the disbelief in my tone when I heard that nickname he has produced for me. My name was only four fucking letters, how hard is it to just say, Mina? I approached Mr. Ankles who was scribbling diligently on the clip board.

"Mr. Ankles?" He turned to me and smiled warmly as I began to speak, "can I get the keys to the boys change room and get the towels?"

"Sure." He dug in his pockets and tossed the keys at me to catch.

Before I left, Mr. Ankles called out to me, "Mina."

I turned around, "yes?"

"Next week is spring break and we're planning to have a training camp all week, would you like a come help? Bring a few friends if you can."

"Is money involved?"

"Just some money for busing, everything else is on us. We're going to my cottage. The field is big and good for practice."

I nodded, "I'll probably be able to come."

"We need your parent's permission." He handed me a form.

My lips lined, "alright."

I walked inside the school. Without students roaming the hall the school oddly felt bigger and slightly creepy. There was a few teachers here and there but it still felt empty. I've started to get used to the fact that I had to enter the boy's change room to enter the storage room. It wasn't like anyone was stark naked. So I was fine.

"Are you breaking in the boys' change room?"

I jumped, "holy shit." I said as I looked in the direction of the voice. It was football jock. I furrowed my brows, "no... I'm just getting stuff for the baseball team."
