Goodbyes Are The Hardest

Today was the day that Caroline Forbes set a sea to the other side of the pond. Today Caroline leaves her friends, friends that are like her family.

Today is Caroline's last day at school and the goodbyes are the hardest for her. She really don't want to go, that choice isn't hers to make.

As she begins to make her way to the class room, Elena and Katherine came running towards her.

They had the same class together.

"Are you ready for your last History Lesson Caroline" Elena asked, linking her arm through Caroline's.

Caroline gave her a small smile, "yeah I guess" she shrugged her shoulders.

Katherine pinched her arm lightly, "yeah right, I know that tone" Katherine teased the blonde girl.

Caroline sighed, "Fine" Caroline groaned, walking through the class room door, "I'm freaking out, I don't want to leave"

"We know" Katherine let out a sad sigh, "but you have to"

"Come on, let's just get this day over with" Caroline offered, sitting down in between the two twin girls.

Klaus came out of art class with a massive photo frame that he had created as a project.

He now have to add the picture of him, Caroline, Elena, Kol, Elijah and Kat in.

He had made it so that Caroline does not forget any of them when she goes to america.

"Niklaus" Elijah called from the locker that he was standing at.

"Brother" Klaus replied.

Elijah pointed at the frame, "What you got there"

"A frame"

Elijah raised a brow at his brother, "for who" Elijah pressured him.

"Caroline" Klaus said slowly in which made Elijah smile.

"That is thoughtful" Elijah gave him a genuine smile.

"So she can remember us" Klaus sighed.

"She will remember us, no matter how long she is away" Elijah assured him, rubbing his back affectionately.

"You don't know that for sure brother" Klaus reasoned, placing the picture in its rightful place.

"I do" Elijah said, turning on his heels and walking towards his next class.

Klaus just shook his head.

Caroline's mum an dad were waiting in the parking lot outside of the main school, waiting for Caroline to come outside.

They watch from afar as Caroline is talking to her friends before she leaves.

First up was the twins in which they gave her a joint hug as their eyes filled with tears, not wanting to let their friend go.

"Please keep in touch" they begged to which Caroline nodded.

The next was Elijah, he came bounding towards her and gave her a big bear hug which nearly made Caroline lose her breath.

"I'll miss you care" Elijah whispered into her ear.

"I'll miss you too" Caroline kissed his cheek as a goodbye and went to Kol who stood behind Elijah.

Kol walked up to her and gave her a cheesy kiss on the back of her hand to which Caroline rolled he eyes at playfully. She then brought him into a hug and kissed his cheek as well.

"Good bye Kol" Caroline whispered into his ear as she hugged him.

"Good bye beautiful Caroline, I will miss you" he replied, kissing her cheek as a farewell.

Caroline looked over to where Klaus stood, holding what seems to be a photo frame.

Caroline slowly walked over to him as he gave her a small smile and handed he picture to her. It was a picture of her and her friends in it.

"Nik" she whispered to him.

"I made it for you" came his replied which brought more tears to her eyes.

"Thank you" she cried, hugging him for the last time. He wrapped his arms around her waist as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

Caroline then gave him a kiss on the cheek as a goodbye like she did for the others.

Caroline peeled her arms from Klaus and slowly began walking away from her childhood friends.

As Caroline was half way towards her family's car, klaus sprinted over to he and grabbed her shoulder lightly to turn her towards him.

Caroline looked at him, confused.

"What's wrong" Caroline asked.

Klaus gave her a smirk, "I may not have a chance to do this"

"Do what?" Caroline wondered.

Just then, klaus gently took hold of her neck and snaked his arm around to the small of her back to being her into a slow kiss.

When they parted lips, caroline gasped.

"I've been longing to do that" Klaus smirked and then pecked her lips again, "goodbye Caroline" then he swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat, "I love you Caroline, we will always will" then he let her go.

"I love you too, all of you" Caroline confessed, walking to her parents car and getting in.

She looked out of the window to see all of her friends, some teachers waving at her as her mum began to drive off to the airport.

"I'm gonna miss this place" Caroline sobbed, throwing her head into her hands.

Liz gave her a sad smile, "I know sweetie"
