Time seemed to stop for Nicholas. Have you ever felt that the world had suddenly stopped but time just keeps turning? That somehow you just keep living but the world that you know has stopped completely, not knowing how it’s going to turn or when?

Well it sucks. Time does not mean anything unless you have those you love with you, every minute, hour and second of each day to enjoy it with you.

Nicholas sat in the hospital room that his mother remained in. He was sitting in a leather sofa at the side of the room, his head laying on the arm. He had spent the whole day talking to his mother that was in a deep sleep.

Once he realised who those people were, he was kind of happy that those weren't complete strangers. His mother had a photo of herself when she was younger with her childhood friends. She would talk about them a lot which would make his father, Tyler, angry as Nicholas would say that he would love to meet them.

Nicholas began to open his eyes and his bright blue eyes landed on his sleeping mother. He had hoped that his mother may be awake, key word being ‘hope’... He got up from the sofa and made his way to the side of the bed, he was about to climb on it when a voice startled him.

"I don't think that would be a good idea" came a low voice. Nicholas turned to find the doctor that helped his mother. He was really kind to him and he had brought him some cookies which were delicious, his mother loved cookies.

Nicholas frowned, turning to look at his mother and then back to the doctor, "I er... just" Nicholas then looked down to his feet, "I wanted to be near her" came his sad voice, cracking slightly.

Elijah came further into the room and quickly checked Caroline's vitals, checking her heart rate, pulse, breathing rate, temperature, bladder levels as well as other medical check-ups. He then looked towards the little boy who reminded him how Caroline looked when she was younger.

"Your mother is doing well" Nicholas looked up at him with hope in his eyes, "but I can't say for sure when she will wake up" Elijah explained, sadness in his eyes and evident in his tone.

Nicholas nodded, "can you tell me what she was like"

Elijah furrowed his brows, "what do you mean"

Nicholas looked to his mother, placing his hand into hers, "my mummy has a photo frame of herself with her friends" came Nicholas voice, that statement made Elijah smile.

"Did she tell you who made it" Elijah wondered, looking at the women in the bed.

Nicholas smiled, brushing his fingers against the back of her hand. "Yeah, she said Niklaus made it for her" he replied, turning his gaze back to the Doctor and Childhood friend of his mother.
