I heard a big 'boom!' sound. The door. I quickly hide James under the squeaky bed in the attic. I was starting to go down the stairs. I saw a flash of light in the window. I heard a scream , and nothing else. Oh no it was mum! What am I to do?
I was so in shock that I couldn't cry in my own grief. I was not in panic or surprise. I was focused.
They came up the stairs. I went into the attic , and swiftly went under the bed. "What just happened?" James asked.
"They are here for you. They killed mum!" I told him.
"Oh my!" he said. "Here," he thrusts his knapsack in my hand," Take this it will help you survive."
"Oh no, I can't take it. It's yours. " I told him frantically. " Not anymore." he told me. He got out from under the bed and I got out and whisper yelled, "No don't go." "I must. They're here for me." he told me.
In German he told them, " Guys, you're here for me. " I was so surprised he knew German so fluently. They came in the attic, surprised themselves. They said something in German arguing. He translates for me. He knows German. What the hell. What do we do with him he can't be alive. They want him. But he'll just escape again. True, He's too smart.
They give each other looks, and shot him in the head. I scream, "No!" I take the knapsack. What am I going to do now ? James is dead. My Mum is dead. I'm all alone. I run away , start screaming. They said, "Stop, stop" and ran after me. The door is locked. The key is in the attic. Oh darn! They continued to talk in German.
" What do we do with her? We can't just kill her? Officer, wants a new maiden we should take her to him" Oh hell no, I'm not going to go with some officer. What would he do to me? I scream as I scoot away from them. As if that's going to make them go away.
They continue to make some kind of mix on a cloth. What is it? They put it on my face. I blacked out.
I woke up what seemed like ages later. I suddenly knew what they did to me. One word: Chloroform. I was still here with my knapsack. I looked around to identify my surroundings. I was in the back of a small airplane. The pressure was in my ears. I couldn't hear what those guys in the front were saying because of the ringing in my eardrums.
Oh God, what happened to me? It took me about five minutes to remember last night's events. It took me about five more minutes to realize that I'm kidnapped. I need to escape. Man on the right says, "Look, she's awake."Man on the left says, " Oh what a lovely surprise." At this point in time I didn't know what they were saying until I finally learned German. "What are you going to do with me, " I asked.
He finally spoke some broken English, " Take you to the officer, he wants a new girl." I sit back and shiver. Who is this officer? And why am I going to him?
I'm just sitting here thinking of various scenarios of what is going to happen to me. Is he some royalty? Is he an old German goat trying to feel frisky? Is he going to have me in a world domination plan? Is he actually looking for someone to marry? That actually sounds very realistic, but I heard them tell me he wants 'another girl'. Now what does that mean?
I finally got to our destination. It looked quite odd. I've never been to Germany in my whole life. I look out the windows to see hundreds of A- shaped houses. Hmm. We go past the suburban looking houses. Where am I going? Meanwhile, I'm keeping this knapsack close to me like my life depends on it. Who knows what lies here in this bag?
We got out of the airplane. I am forced out of the airplane. I look at the building it looks decent on the outside, but looks quite outdated. Like, 1918 outdated. We got inside, it looks very much like old time southern America. It was simple, chic but was sophisticated in a sense. They get me up the stairs into his tea room. I looked inside to see a lovely little table with a fine tea pot, tea cakes and some antique furniture. "Wow! This is really lovely actually." I exclaim. They leave me alone and close the door. I look at the quaint little nick knacks. Ahem! I turn around. I see a tall, about James age looking man with red hair. He's not that handsome.
"I'm terribly sorry, I didn't know that you were there." I told him frantically.
" Oh don't worry my love, you are fine, what is your name?" he asked.
" My name is Julia Gray. I'm from London." I told him. " I can tell by your accent. " he told me, " my name is Gus, short for Gustavo Ravonn. "
"Oh how nice, I think your house is nice I mean." I told him. He gestured me to sit down. I haven't had this great of tea at tea time for at least a month. He took a long sip of tea before he asked me about myself.
" I'm sixteen years old, I took care of my mum before she died. My father used to have a lovely library, until it got burned." I told him bitterly. He looked toward the floor, and then looked straight in my eyes.
" You are such a bright pretty girl." he told me. "Oh why thank you. " I replied.
I look in the mirror at the other side of the room. Boy do I look wretched. I took a bite of a delicious tea cake before I asked him, " So, officer aye?" I asked him.
"Oh yes, for about five years. I 'm about 25 years old." he told me. "Oh." I just stopped right there. What is happening? I feel like I have a sickening feeling in my stomach.
"I have to use the loom" I tell him. " Oh well do come soon, we are going to have a lovely date with a daring dessert. " he tells me in a sly voice. Okay I'm definitely scared.
I go to the loom. It is quite lovely with the cute little towels. I took a peek in the closet , and what do I see, a whole bunch of candles and roses, a jar of grease, a black comb, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a hook with keys? What are these keys for? I will have to explore the house later. I put the keys in my bosom. I look in the mirror. I don't recognize the lady staring back at me. Or the young lady I should say. My hair is definitely disheveled. My skin is definitely dirty. And my hands! My poor hands. They were gray, and I has a huge slash in my palm.
But I still look like me. My bright hazel eyes were still there. My jawline and cheekbones were prominent. And my perfect straight teeth (Surprisingly considering me being English) I had the need to wash my hands and put some lotion on it. I get the comb and comb my well-needed a brushing hair. I splash water on my face. I do say for myself I do look a hell of a lot better than I did earlier.
I don't want to go with him. Instead of going directly back I wander around the house. The room immediately outside has a flowery soft quilt with......roses? Candles were all around the room. The record player had a vinyl record that was called, 'Best Love Songs of 1940'. The heck. I look in the vanity drawer and inside I see a flyer called, ' Get the best girls in all the land with just a swirl of a telephone' Oh why he's a bloody pervert!
I explore more around this lovely house. I go in the downstairs hallway. I see a vacant office, a linen closet, another loom, a telephone, and a bunch of pictures on the wall. I walk to see what I think is Gus as a child. He looked like a child who does no wrong. I then realized I dropped a lily from the vase I pick it up from the floor. I walk back to get my foot caught in handle on the floor. There was a key hole. Curiosity got the best of me, so I looked to see if a key fits. One of them does , and I open it. It makes a creaky sound. I go down and turn on the lights.
Oh I see its a basement. This is about the most ugly part of the house I've ever seen. It's grimy and smelled of bad milk. I go in further then I saw the most horrendous thing ever! I heard one of the many voices, screaming " Help!", " No! not me!", "Get me out, I want out!" I saw the living hell right in front of my eyes.
