Warnings: mentions of drug addictions and swearing
Sitting on your bed, you fumbled with the small packet of white powder in your shaking hands. It had been weeks since you had your last fix and you were going through serious withdrawals. You were shaking, sweating, and vomiting to the point where you could take it anymore. You needed the drugs, anything you could get your hands on, and you needed them now. You tried to pass your behavior off as you just having the flu to your mother, but you didn't know how much longer you would be able to keep it up until you cracked. No one could find out about what you were doing to yourself, especially not your boyfriend Nick. He had spent so many months of his life trying to overcome his own drug addiction that you didn't want to drag him into yours too. Just as you had finally gotten the bag open, you heard the front door close and footsteps coming up the stairs. "Shit." You mumbled as you stuffed the bag underneath your pillow, not noticing how some on the powder fell onto your black pants. You grabbed a book off the bedside table and tried to act normal as your bedroom door opened. Nick popped his head into the room, checking to see if you were in there. "Hey babe, I heard you weren't feeling very well?" You mentally cursed your mom. She had probably told Nick about you and he had decided to come over and check up on you. Usually you'd be happy that your boyfriend was being so thoughtful, but right now the only thing on your mind was the little bag that was hidden just underneath your head. "Uh yeah, probably just a bug or something. I'm fine, really." You smiled over at him. He came over and sat on the edge of your bed, rubbing your knee in a comforting way. His eyes scanned over your body and came to a stop at your thigh. "What's this?" He furrowed his eyebrows and reached over to touch the white powder on your leg. "Shit" you thought to yourself. There was no doubt in your mind that Nick would know what it was, but you decided that trying to cover for yourself was worth a shot anyway. "It's uh, just baby powder from when I took my shower this morning, must have gotten on my clothes and I never noticed." You replied nonchalantly, trying to keep your voice as steady as possible. "Where is it, Y/N?" Nick looked at you with hard eyes. "Um... In the bathroom?" You replied in an obvious tone. "I'm talking about the fucking cocaine, Y/N. I'm not stupid, now hand it over and we can talk." You frowned, reaching under the pillow and taking out the bag, handing it over to Nick with tears in your eyes. There was no use in arguing with him. Nick was a junkie himself and he knew you too well. He could always tell when you were telling the truth or not. Nick turned the bag over in his hands, looking at it thoughtfully. "I'm sorry." You whispered before breaking down, sobs racking through your whole body. "Shhhh baby, it's okay. I'm here, you're gonna be alright." Nick wrapped you in a tight hug and pulled you into his lap. "I'm gonna help you get through this, just like how you helped me. You're not alone, okay? We're in this together." You nodded against Nick's chest, not trusting yourself to speak. For the first time in a long time, you felt safe. Being in Nick's arms made you realize that you didn't need drugs to keep you sane, you needed him.
