Sometimes it killed you thinking about how stupid Nick Clark could be. Honestly, it was like he did everything and anything to put himself in some kind of danger. Today was no exception. You and him were sent off of Strand's boat to go rummaging for supplies at what seemed to be an abandoned plane crash site. "Alright, I'm gonna search from some fresh clothes and non-perishables, you go look and see if there's any medications that seem like they could come in handy." you instructed Nick. "Ha, seems like my old drug habits did become useful to you people." Nick stated. You just rolled your eyes and wandered away from him to begin your search. Rummaging through the scattered suitcases was kind of therapeutic to you. It gave you some down time to actually think about everything that was on your mind. One thing you had been struggling with for a long time was telling Nick about how you felt towards him. You knew you had strong feelings for him, I mean come on, you had known him since you were kids. He was with you through thick and thin, as were you for him, and you couldn't help but notice how he seemed to get just a little more perfect every time you saw him. Now you fully understood the romance movie cliche about falling in love with your best friend. Your only problem was that you were unsure about how he felt towards you. You knew he obviously liked you, but what if he didn't like you as more than a friend? Would your interactions with him become awkward and uncomfortable if you confessed your true feelings? Your thought pattern was cut off by a blood curtling scream. Your head snapped up and you instinctively grabbed the knife you kept in your boot, running toward the source of the noise. You had found Nick laying on the ground a few feet away, struggling to get one of those horrible looking monsters off of him. You darted in his direction and, without thinking, raised your knife and plunged it into the head of the the creature. You stared at the thing in disbelief. Did you really just kill your first infected? Your initial shocked turned to panic when you realized Nick had gotten up and was standing next to you, covered in fresh blood. "Oh my God, Nick. Are you okay? Did you get bit?!" You reached up and touched his face, scanning every inch of his body for any signs of a bite or scratch mark. "No. No I'm... I'm fine, Y/N." Nick replied in a shaky voice, grabbing your hands. You stared at him for a moment before embracing him in a tight hug. "God Nick, you are so stupid. Don't you realize how much I love you? I can't lose you and all you keep doing is putting yourself in situations where I think I might and it terrifies me." You cried into his shoulder. He slowly pulled away from you and studied your face in confusion. "What did you just say?" Your eyes grew wide when you realized that you had basically just spilled all of your feelings about the boy you loved to the boy you loved. Well, you thought, there's no going back now... "I said that I love you." You looked into Nick's eyes, searching them for any signs that he might not feel the same. "I thought that's what you said." Nick smiled and cupped his hand around the back of your neck, pulling you in for a sweet kiss. You graciously kissed back, wanting to enjoy every second of the moment you had been waiting for ever since you had met a boy named Nick Clark.
