Brick's POV
Townsville, home to many. To me, to my brothers, to the citizens and especially to the Powerpuff Girls. Its been 5 years since their disappearance. No one knows what happened to them. Not even their own father knows what happened to them. They just disappeared after fighting this alien-like monster. I'm not too familiar with that story because my brothers and I were trapped with Him during that period of time. After a few days of various attacks everyone realized immediately that the Powerpuff Girls weren't there to protect them anymore.
The town went into panic mode and that was when we decided to step up and take their place. We didn't do it for any justice. We just did it to stop the annoying screaming. Soon the whole town began to respect us and saw us in a new light. But we can never replace the real heroes of this town. They even made a statue of the girls right in the middle of the park. They would usually clean it up and put fresh flowers every once in a while for when the girls come back they'll be greeted with the statue.
My brothers and I were just in our home, given to us by the generosity of the mayor cause of what we've done for the town, Butch was in his usual snacking area. It was kinda disgusting and Boomer and I were always the ones who would clean after him. Boomer was sketching away in the corner of the living room while I was busy with my video game. For days I couldn't get pass this one level because of the complexity of it.
I was so close to finishing the level but I got was careless and a laser blasted my character. "OH COME ON!" I yelled as I threw the controller on the ground. I slumped back into the couch.
"Bro what even?" Boomer yelled. "You ruined my sketch!" He growled. I didn't answer nor look at him. I was too frustrated to even think.
Out of nowhere something flew in through our window and glass was all over the place. Then we heard a monster roar but it soon faded away. Butch got up and ran to the window being extra carful of the glass. "Who ever did that y'all have to pay for this!" He waved his clenched fist in the air. But then he lowered it down slowly and his expression changed.
I moved over to the window. I didn't see anything but blue skies but in the distance there were three trails of light beams all too familiar to my eyes.
"It can't be." Boomer said softly. Butch turned to him and asked "You saw it too?" He looked at us both. We nodded. "So what are we gonna do? Tell the town? Tell the professor?" Butch suggested.
I sighed "We aren't sure if they really are the girls. We can't tell anyone this because they'll have their hopes up. And if that really was them, who knows if they would want to come back."
Boomer and Butch glanced at each other. "For now we should keep this to ourselves. For the citizens' sake." I added.
I might have said that we didn't care about this town but after you've been protecting it for 5 years it starts to grow on you. We started at the age of 15. The age the girls went missing. Now we're reaching the age of 20. Adulthood and the only job we have is saving this town. Other than that we can't do anything else.
-------------------------
We called someone to fix our window and after that was done we went to the park. We would always go here often. We sat on a bench in front the huge statue of the girls.Boomer chucked, "I wonder how they'd look now." With a sad smile on his face.
I wondered about that too often whenever I see that statue. It was only their 15 year old self. Now they're ought to be adults.
"They can't be taller than us that's for sure." Butch snickered. "Are you sure about that Butch?" I asked with a smirk on my face.
He huffed. "Of course I am." I rose and eyebrow at him with Boomer giggling in the background. "Aren't you supposed to be the smart one? Boys will always be taller than girls."
"Looks like someone has been doing their studying in high school." I snickered. Butch's cheeks began to form a color of rose and he turned away.
"But what if we do find them and they don't want to come back?" Boomer asked ever so suddenly. We sat there silently. If I would have known better the girls would never turned their backs on this town. On the citizens here. But I'm starting to have doubts. What if they really don't want to come back. They would have for the past 5 years. I just don't understand why they didn't though. And when we saw them just now—if that were them—why would they want to leave in such a rush instead of making a huge announcement that they're finally back.
