Author's note:

I would like to apologise in advance about how out of character Hinata and Kageyama are in this chapter and the horrendous pacing. AND I would like to add that this will be the second last chapter to this story (EDIT: @ past me, HA you thought!), just to let you know.

*********************************

What's so important that he has to bring me all the way out here? Kageyama wondered as he was firmly led along by Hinata, irritation growing. It was getting late so the world was cast in a twilight hue.

After practise that afternoon Hinata had abruptly grabbed Kageyama and told him he had to tell him something. Then they ended up at a park. Not one with swing sets or anything like that, but one with trees. A lot. Kageyama had been surprised that there was a park of this size in the area.

And he had been even more surprised when Hinata pulled him off the walking trail into the dense woods. Kageyama was sure that they were walking in circles but apparently Hinata knew where they were going, zigzagging between trees with unshaken certainty.

Finally, just when Kageyama felt he going to snap, the trees suddenly broke away to reveal a clearing. And there sat a single, weathered bench.

I wonder how long it took Hinata to find this? Speaking of Hinata...

'Oi. What was so important that you had to drag me out here?'

Hinata smiled nervously. 'Ah. Right. Could we sit?'

He hasn't looked at me once since he towed me out here. Worry gnawed at Kageyama's mind. Whatever he had to say, it must be serious.

As they sat down he noticed how restless Hinata was, more than usual. He was constantly looking around with his feet drumming on the grassy ground. He looked beyond nervous.

'Hey.' Kageyama brought a hand down on the back of Hinata's head with a not so light punch.

'Gah!' Hinata finally snapped his gaze to Kageyama, his eyes wide and blinking. 'What was that for?'

Kageyama ignored him and asked, 'What did you want to tell me?'

'Oh! That.' That nervous look spread across his face again.

'Umm...well...you see...' Hinata laughed and started to get up. 'You know what? I don't really need to tell you right now. It can wait. I'll take you back to the main road-'

He looked about ready to bolt so Kageyama's hand whipped out snagged onto Hinata's wrist.

'Oh, no you don't. You don't drag someone out in to the middle of some forest - near night fall, might I add - and not expect an explanation.'

He yanked Hinata back down and kept a tight grip on to his hand. 'Spill it. Now.

Then something occurred to him, something that frightened him almost as badly when he found out about what Hinata was. It would certainly explain Hinata's behaviour.

'Is it-' Kageyama's mouth went dry as he forced out his next words. 'Is it me?' It came out as a whisper.

'What?' Surprise flickered across Hinata's face.

'Is it me?' Kageyama asked again. He hated how his voice shook, how hard he knew he was gripping Hinata's hand, but he couldn't help it. 'Do you want to break up with me? Am I doing something you don't like? Have I been too protective?'

Hinata lowered his head and his shoulders began to shake.

'Oh, god, it is me, isn't it? Demanding too much of you? Is there anything I can-'
