Author's Note:

OKAY SO I CAN EXPLAIN. As I have been editing all these chapters I have been correcting mistakes before I mark this story as complete. BUT, as I reached this chapter I realised that I had not published it. I finished this over two months ago. Way to go, me!

This actually might be a good thing! After some thought I just simplified the original beginning of the chapter (deleting one third of it in the process)  Anyway, here is the last chapter.

I hope you enjoy.

......................................

He didn't know where he was, but it was bright and warm. He felt light and unbound by the worries that had been dragging him down.

'Kageyama,' called a heartbreakingly familiar voice.

Kageyama forced himself to turn slowly. Hinata was standing ahead of him, a sad smile on his face.

'Hinata?' His voice came out as a whisper.

'It wasn't your fault, Kageyama.' Hinata said kindly. 'There was nothing you could do, so there is no reason to feel guilty. You've been torturing yourself for no reason.'

Kageyama shook his head. 'I don't-'

'You need to stop and listen!' Hinata snapped, suddenly looking angry.  'Remember what I told you. If you can't remember, I'll remind you. I told you to live, Kageyama.'

It was like a slap. Briefly the image of cradling Hinata in the dark flashed across his mind. "Live...f'me...Tobio." Hinata's final words had been slurred but Kageyama had understood, though, at the time, he had been so overcome with grief and desperation that he had simply forgotten.

'Hinata.' his voice cracked, ' Oh, god. I'm sorry.'

Hinata's expression change again, this time he looked relieved. 'I'm glad you remember. Live for me since I'm unable to for myself, live for the team at Karasuno, live for your family, and, most importantly, yourself. Do not waste your life away mourning for me. Okay?'

Hinata's was now smiling. It was the brightest and biggest smile Kageyama had ever seen on his face. 'I won't forget,' he said with certainty.

Hinata's smile dimmed and he started walking away. He looked back briefly and raised a hand. 'Bye, Kageyama.'

Kageyama found himself taking a step forward, then another. His arm reached out for the figure in front of him. 'Wait, Hinata-'

Then he heard another distant voice call his name.

~*~

'-yama. Come on, Kageyama, wake up!'

His head hurt. The ground was cold and hard beneath him. He felt something being wrapped around his wrist, then it being tied off with a sharp tug.

'Kageyama, please wake up,' a voice was saying. Someone gripped onto his hand. 'If you can hear me, squeeze my hand,' the same voice said. Kageyama did as the voice asked and he got a sigh of relief in response.

'Please open your eyes, Kageyama.'

He didn't want to. He wanted to fade away again, to see Hinata, but he also knew he couldn't do that. Kageyama had to live, for him. He cracked opened his eyes to see Suga gazing down at him, worry creasing his brow.

'Oh, thank goodness,' Suga breathed. Then he seemed to gather some of his composure, just barely. His hands were trembling as he reached into his pocket. 'I'm going to call an ambulance.'
