Falling for Tommy Shelby (Peaky Blinders fanfic)

Where do we go from here?

"Ada, I really think you should tell Tommy about Freddie..."

"I can't, he'd kill him"

"I know but" I go to say as Tommy comes striding in but doesn't look towards us.

"Family meeting in five!" Tommy shouts not even acknowledging that we're here.

"I best go then..." I say standing.
His head turns back and he smiles.

"No, you can stay. You know enough"
Did Tommy just say I could stay for a family meeting? They're strictly family only. Everybody knows that.

"It's not bother. I can leave" I say giving him a weak smile.
I begin walking out and Ada shouts goodbye but I sense that somebody's behind me and it's Tommy.

"Tommy" I say confused.

"Why did you leave? Are you trying to avoid me purposely?"

"No, no of course not. It's strictly family" I say walking out of the house.

"I could make sure you attend the next one?" I just walk away. This is too much.

"Grace, I didn't. I didn't mean that"

"It's fine Tommy. Go home"
I walk home and my mother asks me what happened with Tommy in the Garrison last night. Polly clearly filled her in.
I tell her all is well and Tommy has some enemies that's all.

There's a knock at the door and I answer. Tommy fucking Shelby!

"Tommy"

"Can you find a nice red dress?"

"I can buy one yes. Why?"

"To accompany me to the races"

"Of course Tommy" I say, trying not to hide my excitement. He leans forward and places a strand of my hair behind my ear.

"That's all"

"Goodbye"
He places his hand in the door way making me unable to shut the door.

"What are you doing now? I shut the Garrison. Why don't you come for a drink?"

"I'd like that. Come in whilst I touch up my make up"
He nods and follows me.

"Mother, Tommy's in here!"
She comes down the hall and meets us.

"Mrs.Burgess. Lovely to see you"

"You too, Mr.Shelby! I'm out of town for a few days. Please make sure my daughter doesn't get into any bother" she says joking.

"I'll make sure she's protected don't worry"
She nods and leaves.

"Would you like a drink?"

"Please"
I pour him so whiskey and he sits on the chair next to my bed. I touch up my make up and then go into the bathroom to change.

"You look beautiful" Tommy says as I walk out.

"As do you, Mr.Shelby"

It's odd being in the Garrison with only Tommy and I. His usual personality has shifted and I can't help but to fall for him more and more.

"You know Tommy"
"You come across as a dangerous man who cares about only his business and family but in actual fact your one of the most caring people I know" I say.
He smiles as if he's shocked and confused by the compliment. Almost as if he doesn't know whether to take it as a compliment.

"I should go" I say after another drink.
He leans in for a kiss and our lips lock. I care for this man. This Peaky Blinder.

"Stay with me" he says.

"Come to my house Tommy" I say aware of the fact that Ada lives there.
He nods and begins to lock up. I stand and watch him.
He snakes his arm around my waist as I we begin to make our up the road. I realise that I don't mind if anybody knows. But Thomas Shelby has a lot of enemies and that's what scares me the most. Why would I want to love a man who men want dead? Truth is I can't help it.
