"So, uhm.. Do you have any plans this Friday?" Nate asks, as we approach my locker.

"No, I'm most likely gonna order in some pizza and watch Netflix. Wanna join me?"

"As much as I'd be down, I was thinking I'd take you out to eat somewhere instead."

"Oh sure! I'd love to."

"Great! It's a date then," Nate says with a smile.

"A- a date?" I stammer as I close my locker.

"Yeah, what's the matter Dani?"

"I just, I've never been on a date before.."

"Oh, it's gonna be great. I'll text you the details later, Bye!" He says, running off to the school exit.

"Haha, okay, bye Nate!"

---

"Lily, I miss you so much, and I know every time I've called you it's about Nate, but I really want you to meet him, especially now. He just asked me out on a date! I've never been on a date, I've havent talked to any boys in a really long time! Basically never! What do I do, Lil?" I ask over the phone.

"Oh my god, he asked you on a date? How are you gonna tell your mom? What are you gonna wear? You have two days to figure all this out oh my god. Do you think he likes you? No that's a stupid question, obviously he does because he asked you on a freaking date!"

"I know! I don't know how I'm gonna tell her, what if he wants to meet her. Oh my, I can't stop thinking about it. Does he even like me? I don't know, Lil, I don't even like me!"

"Don't say that, there's so much to love about you! Oh I'll come over and do your make up and help you get ready! Nate is gonna be so surprised!"

"I hope so.. What do you think we're gonna do? He hasn't told me anything yet."

"Oh, maybe a dinner date! Or a movie date, but there's no good movies out right now, let's be honest. OH BUT HOW ABOUT A DATE ON THE BEACH!" Lily yells.

"A beach date! That would be so cute!"

"Aw, this is making me so happy. I'm glad you're happy Dani."

"Thanks Lily, you're the best," I smile.

"Oh anytime, I'll always be here for you, best friend," Lily says. "So anyways back to this date..."

I wake up at midnight, to the sound of something hitting my window. Over and over again.

Looking out, I see Nate standing outside, finishing a cigarette, ready to throw another pebble at my window.

"What are you doing?" I whisper-yell.

"Thank fucking god, I've been out here, throwing rocks at your window. It's cold as fuck out here, Dani."

"Geez, you could've called me."

"Well I was going to, then I realized I didn't have your number. So are you gonna let me up or not?"

"My mom is home, and how am I supposed to help you up?"
