Eleven years later...

"Ary, baby slow down or you're going to fall and break something!" I chuckled at the sigh of seeing a mini me running around.

"But daddy, it's fun!" She giggled with her cute little pigtails bouncing around everywhere. The Christmas decorations hung all over our home, making it feel cozy and warm.

"Daddy can I open a present today?" She spoke, with a little mispronunciation in some of the words, I mean what can be expected of a three year old little baby girl. She's the sweetest, and the cutest, surely genes passed on from her beautiful mother.

"I think we better ask mommy" I said picking her up and spinning her around, making her go into a frenzy of giggles and laughs. I smiled at the sight of my beautiful daughter smiling, this is one sight I'll never get tired of seeing.

"Can I pleaseeee?" She whined, causing me to chuckle.

"I don't know baby, it's only Christmas Eve, let's go see what mommy thinks?" I sit her on my shoulders and head up the stairs which are adorned with Christmas lights, garlands, and ornaments.

"MOMMYYY!!" She screams at the top of her lungs as we approach the door to the bedroom, then she bursts into laughter. I open the door and there I see my beautiful wife sitting at her desk working hard. She turns around and walks over to us, displaying a smile on her face.

"Hi baby" she kisses Aurora's cheek and my lips, eleven years later and one little kids still has the power to make me go weak in the knees.

"Mommy can I open a present todayyyy?" Little Aurora bats her eyelashes, a trick she learned from her mother. We all let out a laugh. "Pwease?" She adds causing me to chuckle a bit.

"Baby, it's Christmas Eve." She says, making Ary pout. "Well okay, but only one" she winks and Ary's face lights up. "But we better not tell Santa about it." She whispers into Ary's ear, planting a kiss on her cheek, with a smile wide across her face, making me smile.

"Okay Ary, let's get you ready for grandma's house! They have cookies and all your cousins are going to be there, it will be loads of fun!" I say carrying my little girl to her room, her mom picks out an outfit for her and we are on our way. We arrive at Grandma's house a few minutes later and drop Ary off.

"Merry almost-Christmas, my love" I kiss my beautiful wife getting a smile from her.

"Merry almost Christmas, Lucas" she says intertwining our fingers as we walk into the restaurant I had previously made reservations at, the same restaurant where I proposed to her, and where she said yes. I am the luckiest man alive to have such an amazing woman by my side.

After Melody passed away I was devastated. I couldn't believe I had just seen her last minutes of life right before me. Her last words, wishes and her last breath. I was a mess, I didn't leave my apartment for over a week. I tried everything I could to cope with my new reality; but little did I know, that wasn't my reality. I got a call at 9:23 p.m. it's was Melody's mother, Amanda, or any as I called her. She told me she had been trying to contact me for the longest time but I didn't pick up any of her calls or respond to any of her text messages. When she told me Melody wasn't dead I was over the moon excited, I got up and immediately headed over to the hospital, there I found a very sick looking Melody, but she was alive and that's all that mattered.
