Chapter 23

Chris's POV:
Mike and I ran out into the cold winter night, to the shed, as quickly as possible. After three minuets running blindly into the forest, which isn't the best thing to do considering there were man eating monsters running wild, we reached the shed. I heard Auggies screams and immediately ran towards her. But it was too late. She was being pulled out of the shed at a fast pace by a wendigo. She was crying, and trying to grab something to anchor her down, but the wendigo was too powerful.

I was about to call my sisters name when Mike grabbed my arm and shushed me. He knew it was too much of a risk to Auggie, and us, if I called. Then the wendigo took a sharp left, and Auggies head hit a rock. Blood slowly dripped from the wound inflicted from the blow and she was out cold. A horrible thought shot through my body. The blow was so hard it could have killed her. She could be dead.

Mike was now shaking, but was still gripping my forearm tightly. Tears began to slowly drip from my face. Mike then said, after what seemed like an eternity of silence, "She could still be alive. And so could Josh. We can't give up. Not on Auggie. Not even on Josh. He may be crazy, but under all of that, he's a great friend. And he can get help. So we can't give up. Okay?" Mike said. He was always so damn confident and I still don't know, after all of the shit we've been through, how he remains even the slightest bit confident.

A/N: So I broke my promise. I promised I wouldn't die again, but I ended up not updating in almost a month. School is almost out and we have a month left which is about three and a half weeks. So once summer starts, I will most likely finish it. But since it's the end of the year, we have SO many tests and make up and stuff so I need to focus on that before anything else. Also, even though this chapter is short, I feel like I worded it fairly well, so give me feedback! I will write longer chapters soon as well, considering it's getting close to the end of the story!
