Chapter 15 (The Effort Is All That Matters)

Beta Ashton's POV Continuation

"Yes, he just told me how to get to him and trust me I will not hesitate to kill him to get my mate back," was his reply. I nodded mind linking the warriors already out in search of the Luna to return to the pack house.

I followed behind Jordan heading downstairs but branched into the kitchen to say goodbye to my mate Lexie before leaving. "Have you gotten any information regarding the Luna?" She questioned with worry evident in her voice something I wished I could erase.

"Relax, we're going to find and return her back here to safety, alright." She nodded and I pulled her to me to give her a comforting hug. "Came here to see you before leaving, I have to go now honey, the Alpha is waiting."

"Okay, please be safe," My mate said giving me a kiss before we departed.

Stepping outside, the Alpha was already in the middle of speaking to the warriors gathered there. "We have Cain's location and knowing him, he has probably surrounded himself with a few werewolves to boss around and do his dirty work." He looked at each and every one of the warriors as he spoke.

"Ken, Jessica, Isaiah, Jackson, Tom, Andrew, Brandon, Sam, and McKenzie, you guys are coming with me. The rest of you are to return to your families and stay alert, Beta Ashton will stay back to assume his position in my absence." They all nodded and dispersed leaving behind the ones chosen.

"You know Cain and DeMarco are two very cunning wolves right?" I asked.

Turning his focus on me he replied, "Yes that's why I need you to stay back just in case they have devised a plan to attack any of the pack members."

"Or they probably have developed a plan on how they are going to kill you and the Luna," I added.

"And your point is?"

"As your right-hand man I want to go with you, it's my responsibility to protect you." There was no way I was going to stay behind.

"I don't remember asking for your protection my dear friend."

"I know but I want to stand by your side and help you fight this battle like I have all these years. As your Beta, please grant my request and let me assume the role of you protector just in case they try to pull a fast one on you." I had a gut feeling that I needed to go with him, that something bad might happen.

"That's exactly why I need you to stay back to take over the pack should in case something happens to me which I highly doubt. Cain isn't our only enemy remember, I need someone here to watch over the pack should in case the Silverlight Pack decide to attack." He replied and I didn't care, I was going to go with him. Yes, we do have threats coming in from the Silverlight Pack, however, I firmly believe that they aren't going to attack us anytime soon.

"I'm not backing down and the more we stay here bickering back and forth, they more time we're wasting. Ken is capable of protecting the pack in our absence. He has done it before and he is our packs strongest warrior, he is practically the third in command." I responded it looked like he was debating.

"Ken, can I entrust the security of my pack into your hands?" Jordan questioned.

"Yes Alpha," he replied.

"If something bad happens to any of my pack members, you will be held accountable and I promise you, I'll have your head on my plate for dinner." He threatened.

"Don't worry Alpha," he assured Jordan.

"Keep me updated on any changes in the condition of Vince." Jordan told him and faced at the rest of us, "We are taking two minivans pair up, one group with Ash and the other with me." Jessica, Isaiah, McKenzie and Jackson went with Jordan and Tom, Andrew, Brandon, and Sam came with me.
